Karl H. Schweiger, 83, of Houston TX, passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2020. Karl was born in Mannheim, Germany on September 23, 1936, son of the late Richard and Anna Maria Schweiger. Karl is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna Maria Schweiger and brother, Richard Schweiger and sister-in-law, Magdalena Schweiger. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gudrun Schweiger, by his Daughter/Son-In-Law, Martina and James Hulse, by his Son/Daughter-In Law, Thomas and Irene Schweiger, four grandchildren Erik Hulse and his wife Kristin, Kristina Hulse, Kyle Hulse, Jimmy Hulse, two great grandsons Carter Hulse, Luke Hulse and soon-to-arrive great granddaughter Holly Hulse along with his many nieces and nephews.
Karl married his wife, Gudrun, in Mannheim, Germany on August 21st, 1959. Shortly after their marriage, they immigrated to the United States. Karl was then drafted into the U. S. Army for 2 years where their first child, Martina, was born in his duty location of Germany. Their 2nd child, Thomas, was born in San Diego, CA where they lived for several years. He obtained an Accounting job with Shell Oil in San Diego and he was transferred to Houston, TX. Karl and Gudrun lived in Houston for 50 years where they raised their family. He was such a gentle and genuine man.
Over the years and during his retirement, Karl enjoyed camping with his wife and family. He had a brown Ford F-350 duallie to pull his 5th wheel RV that he loved! He used to love to mow his lawn and work in his garage. Despite his significant medical issues and memory loss over the years, he was never a man to complain about his pain. In fact, he would always say that someone has it worse than he does, especially “all the cancer patients”, and that he was okay and not to worry about him. He never wanted to be an inconvenience to anyone. He always put other people’s feelings and needs before his own. One of his favorite treats was Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream and Chick-fil-A nuggets! He also loved dogs very much, from his dog Heidi, to Grand-dogs Maebelle, Buddy, Beauty and Belle. He will be missed by many.
