Natalie Fowler Claunch, 92, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020 at her home in Spring, Texas.
Natalie was born on November 18, 1928 in Corbin, Kentucky, the second of four children. Her family later moved to Somerset, Kentucky where she graduated from high school in 1946. She then attended Bowling Green Business University where she received a business and accounting degree.
Natalie married James (Jim) Claunch in 1949 and they immediately moved to Memphis, Tennessee. She worked as an administrative assistant for several major companies. The final twenty five years of her career Natalie was employed by The Woodlands Development Corporation in The Woodlands, Texas.
After leaving Memphis, Natalie and Jim moved to Augusta, Arkansas where they made several lifelong friends. The people of Augusta always held a special place in their hearts and they retired there in 1993. In 2010 she moved back to Spring, Texas to be with her family.
Natalie was a devoted lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Augusta United Methodist Church in Augusta, Arkansas. She was also a member of P.E.O., Chapter L for over fifty years and served as president of her chapter.
Natalie enjoyed socializing with friends. She liked to play Hand and Foot (cards) and occasionally enjoyed an Old Fashioned. She loved taking care of her family. Her great granddaughter, also named Natalie, was the joy of her life.
She was a classic southern lady, loving, kind and smart, with a great sense of humor.
Natalie is preceded in death by her parents Irvine and Marjorie Fowler, husband James Claunch, sisters Sarah Jane Issacs and Mary Lou Dodson, brother James I. Fowler and her daughter Rebecca Claunch. Natalie is survived by her daughter Lisa Townsend and husband Jim, her grandchildren Maggie Hutto and husband Jake, Christopher Townsend and great granddaughter Natalie Hutto all of Spring, Texas.
Due to the current pandemic, Natalie’s ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband in Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta, Arkansas. The date, as yet undetermined, will be in the coming months.
