Norma Louise Ledet Tindel, 75, of Houston, went to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2013. Norma Lou was born on April 29th, 1938, in Abbeville, LA to Clerphe Joseph “Jack” Ledet and Norma Marie Provost Ledet.
Norma grew up in Abbeville, and she loved to regale her children with stories about her rich Cajun heritage. After graduating from Abbeville High in 1956, she worked as a secretary, before moving to Orange, TX, to work for DuPont. It was while working there that her friend, Marilyn Tindel, suggested she go out on a date with Marilyn’s younger brother, Ed. That blind date led to a fifty year marriage, four beloved children, and a beautiful life together. They made Houston their home for good in 1970 and lived in the Melrose Park area for over thirty years, becoming active members of their church and community—working closely with the Houston Civic Club in the early 1980s. She was a homemaker in the early years of raising her children, and then worked as an executive secretary until her retirement. Norma was a life-long practicing Catholic and she raised her four children to seek the Lord for all their answers. For many years, Norma and Ed belonged to Assumption Catholic
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty years, Charles “Ed” Tindel, Jr.; her parents and her sisters-in-law Shirley Ledet and Marilyn Tindel Walters and husband Bill. She is survived by her children, Bobby Tindel and wife Karen, Rachel Tindel Kahane and husband Steve, Susan Tindel Norman and husband Jerrie, Rebecca Tindel Bivens and husband Scott, and her beloved grandchildren: Katie Kahane, Lily Tindel, Samantha and Savannah Bivens, and Jude Norman; her brothers, Rev. Richard Ledet and his wife Annette, and David “Mickey” Ledet; her brother-in-law Jack Tindel and his wife Darlene, and nephew Ken Seibert and his wife Donna; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends!
Mercifully, Norma is now with her beloved Ed, whose passing in August of this year broke her heart. What a beautiful reunion must be taking place in heaven!
We’d like to thank the nurses of the Houston Hospice wing @ Grace Care Ctr. Cypress for taking such good care of our precious mother in her final days. We also appreciate the love and support shown by our parents’ next door neighbors, the families of Regina & Nelson Butuk and Israel & Maggie Alva; and thank you to Mom’s caregiver, Ms. Cecilia Omojola, with Synergy HealthCare, who provided hours of care, ministry, and love to our mom during her final weeks.

Norma was a life-long practicing Catholic and she raised her four children to seek the Lord for all their answers. For many years, Norma and Ed belonged to Assumption Catholic
Church in Houston (where she also played the organ). They moved in 2002, at which time they became members of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. She loved music and dancing and good old-fashioned sing-a-longs (especially at family gatherings), while accompanying with a piano or harmonica, if possible. She enjoyed gardening and is warmly remembered by neighbors for working in her yard, wearing a big straw sun hat.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty years, Charles “Ed” Tindel, Jr.; her parents and her sisters-in-law Shirley Ledet and Marilyn Tindel Walters and husband Bill.
