In Memory of
Anne Darrington Whiting
-

Beloved Wife and Mother, Anne Darrington Whiting, 82, of Sugar Land, TX passed away at home surrounded by her children and friends.

She was born the oldest of 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys, on December 5th, 1942 to Gladys Tennant Darrington and John Harry Darrington in Burley, Idaho.

Anne grew up in Declo, Idaho surrounded by extended family on both sides. She was a loving, positive and friendly person, her family said of her “You know, Anne has never met a stranger!” She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in upstate New York, Cumorah Mission, and then went to work with the Navajo People in Arizona, teaching Head Start, a people she grew to love and cherish.

She went to both Ricks College and Brigham Young University to ultimately receive her Bachelors of Science in Child Development and Family Relations in 1972 and worked numerous jobs along the way.

She met her husband Marcel in July of 1978 in Salt Lake City and they were married in August of 1979. They lost their first daughter Angie in April of 1980 only days after her birth. Their son Trevan was born in 1981, and their second daughter Chara was born in 1982. In 1985 their small family moved to Sugar Land, Texas for work and they have lived there ever since.

Anne was also a wonderful cook, a voracious reader, and looked after so many, including her husband and two living children, as well as the many children from her in home babysitting business over the years to whom she was Miss Anne. She had a bright and happy laugh, and she is loved and missed by countless people. She had a firm faith in the Plan of Happiness and over the last few years of her life would say “I know where I’m going” and so now she has returned to her Heavenly Parents.
She has been separated from her husband for the last 10 years, but never again.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcel Gary Whiting; her daughter, Angie Elise Whiting; her sister-in-law, Connie Darrington; and her parents, John Harry Darrington & Gladys Tennant Darrington.

She is survived by her son, Trevan Scott Whiting; daughter, Chara Anne Whiting; siblings, John Charles Darrington & wife Susan, Jean Darrington Tolman & husband Richard, Gary Joseph Darrington, Steven Harry Darrington & wife Pamela, Philip Tennant Darrington & wife Karen, Marie Darrington Allred & husband Michael, and Carol Darrington Webb & husband Michael; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Her Funeral will be held at 213 W Main St. Declo, ID 83323 at 11 am on Monday, February 17th, 2025. The viewing will start at 10 am and the Graveside Service and Luncheon will be held following the funeral service.
