Brenda Pepper, 56, of Kingwood, TX, formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Saturday, April 2nd, at Kingwood Medical Center with her family by her side. Brenda was born on September 22, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, to Willa and Richard Hollingsworth.

Brenda graduated from Mr. Del’s Beauty School in 1980 and she had a successful career as a hair stylist. On December 20, 2002, she married Patrick Pepper in Lakeland. Brenda courageously and graciously fought chronic leukemia and breast cancer over the last twelve years. She fought both illnesses “like a girl”. She was an inspiration to all who met her along this journey.

Brenda loved her family, family gatherings, holidays and all animals…especially her canine companions, Popcorn and Charlie. She found a close network of dear friends at her job at Building Enterprises in Kingwood. She dearly loved her home and the neighbors who were very special to her.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Pat, and the love and pride of her life, her son, Jairus Ayles. She is also survived by her stepchildren Chris (Jessica) Pepper, Kate (Zak) Kroum, grandchildren, Will and Ella Pepper, and Riley Kroum. She is further survived by her parents, Willa and Richard Hollingsworth, her sister, Vickie (Phil) Lane, her sister-in-law Peggy (Randy) Casper, brother-in-law, Mike (Sherry) Pepper and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at her beloved home on Sunday, April 10th. All are welcome from 2 – 4 p.m.

Pat, Jarius and family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Brenda loved her family so very much. She was always, a sweet, loving, caring and a true loyal friend to all that knew her. She was always fun to have at work these past several years. She will be dearly missed by all of us. Please let us know how we can help comfort you in the days to come.
Sincerely,

Yes, Brenda certainly did "fight like a girl". She fought like the strong, courageous, beautiful and compassionate girl that she was. I am so glad I knew her and my life will be forever enriched by her spirit. She truly loved life, loved to laugh, loved to play a joke and loved her family dearly. My sincere condolences to Pat, Jairus and the rest of her family. Jairus, your tribute to your mom was so inspiring. I know she is proud.
