Carol passed on Friday November 06, 2020 at the age of 83. After a series of health setbacks later in life that weakened her body she ultimately succumbed to cancer. She remained optimistic and kept her sense of humor through it all.
She was born on January 10, 1937 in Jackson, Mississippi. When she was a small child her family relocated to Houston, Tx.
She graduated from Aldine High School in 1955 where she was a fire baton twirling Drum Major for the marching band! Not long after High School she married Melvin Laird, was baptized in the Church of Christ and together they had 4 children.
Carol was a fun-loving, outgoing, energetic lover of people, conversation and life itself.
She appreciated fine china, crystal & antiques. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat, as well as the opera, ballet and the symphony. She was quite the sports enthusiast as well. Although she loved to watch many different kinds of sports including figure skating, football and basketball, she adored the Astros and Jose Altuve! She also loved her family and friends very much and showed them without reservation or hesitation. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. She was a remarkable and unique woman.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Melvin and her first born, James. She is survived by her children Lane, Steve, his wife Teresa and Melva. Grandchildren: Amy, Brittany, Stephen, Chase, James. Great grandchildren: Kyleigh, Gavin, Eli, Harleigh, Corbin, Emery, Kaitlyn, Jessica.
Graveside services are planned for Friday November 13, 2020 at 11AM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
