
Catherine Elaine Peters Lewis was born on October 4, 1946 and passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 surrounded by family.
She is survived by her son Christopher Barlow and wife Melany, grandson Chance Barlow and wife Vanessa, granddaughter Madeleine Barlow, brother Joseph Peters and wife Nancy, sister Patricia Hodges, brother William Peters and wife Debra, nephew Stephen Garren and wife Gwen, niece Sherry Peters, niece Joann Reinkensmeyer and husband Kevin, niece Erika Cole, nephew Brandon Hodges and wife, Duryn, Goddaughter and niece Ashley Bussell and husband Jeff, niece Sarah Blanchard and husband Michael, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Victor Peters, Jr., loving mother Ernalea West Peters, sister Carolyn Louise Peters, and nephew Bryce Joseph Hodges.
Catherine was born in Houston, Texas, moved to Colorado in middle school and graduated from Arvada High School. She met and married Douglas Barlow while attending the University of Colorado, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing. Doug and Cath settled in Aurora Colorado and Chris came along in 1966. Catherine worked fulltime through her adult life as an administrative assistant in the education, energy and legal fields. She moved to California in her forties to pursue a dream in screenwriting, and eventually returned to Houston in the 90’s to care for her mother, Ernalea in her final years. This was a very peaceful and rewarding time of life for Catherine, and was undoubtedly her favorite life’s work. During this time, Catherine also earned a Master of Arts degree in Art History from St. Thomas University.
Catherine will long be remembered as a witty and intelligent woman with a creative soul and unique flair that set her apart from the crowd throughout her life. Those left behind know that Catherine had her struggles, and though it was not always well with her life, we can find comfort in knowing it is now well with her soul.
