Charley Michalk, Jr.

Charley Michalk, Jr. was born near La Grange, Texas on August 9, 1928. He passed away on July 22, 2018 in Katy, Texas due to congestive heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Herman Michalk and mother Ida Marie Zimmermann Michalk, brothers Vastin Michalk and James Michalk.

Charley leaves behind his wife Paula Ann Hogan Michalk, sons Mark Michalk, Kenneth Michalk and daughter Peggy Michalk and her husband Kirk Mosher. Charley is also survived by his sister Gladys Eichler and brother Rudolph and his wife Jeanne Michalk, and Grandson Reed Michalk, Granddaughters, Rebekah Kelsey and her husband Colby, Amanda Michalk, and Sara Mosher, and Great Granddaughter Brooklynn Michalk.

He graduated from the La Grange High School and went on to several colleges. He was drafted into the army during the Korean War and his unit took the first public pictures of the atomic bomb in Nevada. Charley then spent 34 years working for mortgage companies in Houston, Texas. Afterwards, he started his own Real Estate and Mortgage Company.

Charley and Paula were married January 29, 1956 and have been married for 62 years. Charley was an avid hunter and fisherman and he taught all his children about the outdoors. In Charley’s younger years, he was an active member of Garden Oaks Masonic Lodge, Arabia Temple and Sons of Hermann. Charley also was an active member at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Holy Covenant United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.

Family and friends are invited to the service at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church on July 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM for visitation. The funeral will be at 10:30 AM following visitation.
