During my freshman year at SAGC, Coach didn't ask me who I wanted to room with, he said Paul Vermillion, asked if I could be his roommate. That decision changed my life
I had only played 2-3 pick up games with Paul before that. Paul became my best friend while at SAGC. That first year was so much fun and I will forever value Pauls friendship.
We connected back via Facebook and texted quite often over the last 4-5 years. I am honored to have been such a close friend to Paul, Ice P as we called him, Ice water ran in his veins on the court Paul gave me my nickname, “Snake” he said man you sneak around the court like a snake
It stuck, Id get used to Paul calling me “Hey Snake” 25 years later, when we talked Paul said What up Snake!!!
Like we never stopped being roommates. People will talk about the athlete and baller Paul was, but he was a way better friend, brother and room dawg. How I approach life was predicated by my teammates, none more than Ice P.
Ima miss you but like we talked about
If you go home before me, you told me to Not wear black or be sad about God punching your ticket.
So Thursday Ima wear some J’s and not wear black , to honor your request and your life that was lived well and to the fullest .
Love ya bruh see you soon when my time is up
