In Memory of
Daphne Rene Hoard
-

Daphne Rene was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 29, 1960 to Mr. Elmer Ellis and Mrs. Delphina Odessa Coleman.  She was the fifth child of six children.  Her father was in the Air Force and after several different locations he was transferred to Houston, Texas. It was there she began her education and the eventual graduation from Forest Brook High in 1979, where she performed in the school’s stage band. She went to Prairie View University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Education in 1984. Soon after, she married Mr. Keith Hoard, and to this union she gave birth to her only child, Christopher Hoard.

Daphne taught Math in the Houston and the Aldine Independent School Districts.  After 28 years of service, she was forced to retire due to her illness but not before pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education. She fought hard for what she believed in and for the future of her students.  She fought even harder for life, for she battled with her illness for many years.  As a dynamic singer, Daphne touched the hearts of everyone who heard her sing. Her songs and voice will truly be missed by her son, Christopher Hoard; her sisters: Janice White (Larry); Patricia Coleman; Pamela Mitchell (Percy); Adriene Harrison; her brother Michael Coleman (Carolyn); her nephews and nieces, her aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of many relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Carmen Nelson Bostick Historic Cemetery (12317 Holderrieth Rd, Tomball, TX 77375).
