Della Mae Essendi, 81, passed away in Houston on Friday, October 18, 2013. She was born on November 18, 1931 to Tom Dory and Mary Alice Griffin Dory in Falfurrias, Texas.
She is survived by her son, Willie Tate III & wife Angela Habbitt-Tate; nieces, Sonja Collier (Bruce Sykes), Candace Jefferson, Gwen Rangl, Beverly Harris, and Dorothy Jones; nephews, William "Sonny" Jefferson and Daryl Hutchins; grandchildren, Amy, David, Kenya, Robbie, Kimberly and Kristina; great-grandchild, Janel; great-nephews, Jason and William Collier; and a host of other great-nephews and great-nieces.
She is preceded in death by her daughters, Patricia Ann Tate and Cheryl Lynn Tate; brothers, Johnny Warren and Tom Dory Jr.; and sisters, Rosie Lee Black, Maggie Jefferson, Vera Hollis, and Andrew Lee Collier.
Visitation will be in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service (13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, TX 77082) on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with the funeral at 11:00 AM.
