-

Donald R. “Buddy” Johnson, 70, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 4:00am. He was born on Thursday, April 14, 1949 to Raymond and Anne Johnson in Houston. He graduated from Cypress Fairbanks High School in 1967.

In 1973, he fell in love with Mary Jane Huffstetter after being introduced to her at Foley’s Distribution Center. They went on to marry on Saturday, June 12, 1976 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Houston. In 1981 and 1984, they welcomed their daughters, Naomi Kathryn and Natalie Rae. Buddy went on to live a simple and blessed life with his three girls.

Buddy, Mary Jane, and girls became active parishioners of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, where Buddy also became a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Buddy gained his honorary sons when Naomi wed Mark Meleski in 2004, and Natalie wed Michael Della-Calce in 2010. He happily welcomed his grandchildren, Grace Kathryn Meleski (2006), Meredith Ann Meleski (2008), Michael David Della-Calce (2010), Madeline Rae Della-Calce (2013), and Thaddeus Huff Della-Calce (2016). He was extremely proud of his family and enjoyed being in their company.

Buddy is also survived by sister Nancy Knotts of North Carolina, sister Judi and husband Bill Leek of North Carolina, and brother Bob Johnson and wife of Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Anne Johnson, and Mary Jane’s parents, Huff and Margaret Huffstetter.
