The Living Spirit

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Dear Laura Lu and Paulette:
I was so sorry to hear about you Dad (Uncle Paul) passing away. I wish and wanted to be there in Texas to honor him and your families Friday, please know you are supported and are in my prayers. I have great memories of your family coming to California for visits and enjoying our time together and cracking up at our Dads' funny ways together :) Peace and blessings to your families.

I look back on my family, the Burkes, with a heavy heart, having lost my brother, Paul, and a few weeks earlier my sister, Jean. My brother, Peat, and I feel very acutely being the only two left of a family of seven brothers and siters.
We were fortunate to have had wonderful parents, intelligent, witty, tolerant and ever-loving. Each one of us had a special place in the family, Paul and Peat being the last (but not the least). They were especially special and we, the older children, catered to them. One would have expected them to be spoiled rotten, but they were not!
Paul had a heart as big as a full moon and, as my mother noted, never said a mean word about anyone! He will be greatly missed not only by Peat and me but even moreso by Laura Lu and Paulette, who gave him unconditional love. Our hearts and thoughts are with them and their families. May God bless you.

Laura Lu and Paulette our thoughts are with you. While I only met Uncle Paul a very few times (the Burke's are so scattered across the continent) I feel I knew him well through mom's news and stories "of old". They told of a good man.

Please accept my, Ron's and Jennifer's condolences.
