Harriet “Harry” Eleanor Cervera (Savin) took her last breath at 8:27pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
Harriet passed away peacefully in her home in Katy, Texas at age 73, following a turbulent five-year battle with cancer. Her most difficult challenge came in the last few weeks prior to her death. Harriet died on her own terms while holding hands with her husband and sons.
Was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dolores Savin, but never met her father John P. Harmeyer who passed away at a young age in the armed forces while fighting in WWII.
Many of her best times were spent on several cruises to far-away lands with family and friends. She enjoyed taking part in social groups’ activities and organized countless adventures and family parties. Harriet made sure everyone had a great time! She loved to cook elaborate meals and had exquisite taste with home décor. Her keen eye, attention to detail and patience also shined through during holidays. As a consummate crafter she would select a theme, and with impeccable taste, choose the perfect gifts, then create works of art wrapping them.
She was loved by everyone and will be missed dearly.
Harriet is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hector, her sons, Robert and David, her daughter-in-law, Kathryn, her grandchildren, Amanda Sohns, Eric, Nichole, Zander and Aaron, and her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Audrey.
Services begin with a viewing at 10:00 AM on Monday February 23, 2015 at Beresford Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. A memorial service begins immediately thereafter, at noon. Harriet asked to be cremated after her services and her wish will be carried out. Her ashes will be taken on one last cruise with family members and friends and scattered over the water during the last night of the cruise. A small amount of her ashes will be blown into three beautiful touchstone glass displays for her husband and sons to take along on future trips, so her adventures continue on…..
