In Memory of
Jane Davis Owen
-

Margaret Jane Davis Owen was called to Eternal Life on the 31st of May, 2021. The youngest of three, Jane was born to Myrtle King Davis and Patrick L. Davis, Sr. on the 20th of June, 1925. After graduating from Lamar High School in Houston at the age of 16, Jane attended and later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she became a Delta, Delta, Delta sorority member. While at the University of Texas, she met the love of her life, Alfred Bodden Owen, Jr. (Bob), at a UT dance. Determined to remain in his thoughts, Jane gave Bob a "glamour photo” of herself before he left for the Navy. Upon returning for a four-day leave, Bob married Jane on the 21st of March, 1946.

Jane became a grateful believer in Jesus Christ and a passionate Bible Study student and leader. Jane and Bob were founding members of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Together they led pre-marital counseling for many years. Jane enjoyed spending time and holidays with her large, extended family, whether in Houston or at their lake house, lovingly dubbed “Bob’s Folly.” On the 21st of March, 2000, she and Bob celebrated 54 years of marriage shortly before Bob’s passing. Jane is also preceded in death by her son James Patrick Owen and her siblings Patrick L. Davis, Jr., and Elizabeth Leggett. Jane is survived by three of her four children and their spouses; Richard and Martha Owen, Nancy Merritt, Elizabeth and Lloyd DeLano, Wendy Owen, widow of James; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Owen Merritt, Richard, Jr. and Brittany Owen, Kahra and Bryce Barkley, Rachel and Jeffrey Wolfe, Elizabeth and Robert Roark, Nathan and Amber DeLano, Margaret Owen, and Katherine and Luis Cedeno; and her twelve great-grandchildren Pierce Louis Wolfe, Madeleine Jane Owen, Kadence Lenore Barkley, Abigail West Roark, Benjamin Vance Wolfe, Michael Bodden Owen, Barrett Allyn Roark, Maddox William Owen, Mabel Louise Roark, Collins Grace DeLano, Matthew Richard Owen, and Clementine Jane Roark.

Proverbs 31:28a, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed;.”

We wish to thank Ladonna Williams and all of the members of the DreamCare staff who lovingly cared for our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother during the latter days of her life. In lieu of customary remembrances, please direct memorial contributions to the Christian charity of your choice.
