In Memory of
Jeffrey Edward Shoop
-

Jeffrey Edward Shoop of Katy, Texas, passed away at the age of 62 from a sudden heart attack on Thursday, September 17, 2020. He was born on November 20, 1957 in Palo Alto, CA, to Jonathan Bassett and Nina Jeanne Shoop. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1969.

Jeff graduated from Scarborough High School in 1977. He continued on to study at Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business in 1982. As a member and eventual President of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, Jeff formed lifelong friendships and made incredible memories that carried him through his life.

Post college, he enjoyed a successful career as an accountant and financial analysist. He started in Houston at Foley’s then on to Fluor Daniel, Inc., both in Houston and Buffalo, NY. He returned to Houston to work at American Ref-Fuel and U.S. Design & Construction Corp. His final place of employment was Inframark LLC in Katy, Texas.

His wife Ellen was his best friend, and Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family; particularly supporting his children in their academic and athletic endeavors (never missing a single game or function). He was an avid gun enthusiast and loved hunting, hiking, waterskiing, and other outdoor ventures; including frequenting Lake Tahoe with his parents and siblings. In his free time, he loved football and war movies/history. Jeff’s yearly crawfish boils were a particular source of pride, and his kindness and love of others was absolutely legendary. His faith in the Lord was paramount.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife Ellen (Dickey) Shoop of Katy, Texas; his 3 children, Nick Scott Shoop & wife Hollie Shoop of Richmond, Texas, Ryan Neal Shoop & partner Byron Bradshaw of Austin, Texas, Kristin Nina (Shoop) Bever & husband Jon Bever of Houston, Texas; mother Jeanne Nina (Gamel) Shoop of San Antonio, Texas; brother Jonathan Bassett Shoop II & wife Mimi Shoop of Truckee, California, sister Jackie (Shoop) McCarthy & husband Dennis McCarthy of Leon Springs, Texas; step-children Doug Dickey & wife Ashley Dickey of Pearland, Glen Dickey of Houston, Texas; 4 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jon Shoop in 2006.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Bridgepoint Bible Church in Houston, Texas at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Neighborhood Kidz Club. www.neighborhoodkidzclub.com Under special instructions, please include “In Memory of Jeff Shoop.”

Jeff Shoop was a fine Christian Man. He taught me a lot at work and I will forever be forever greatful for that. I loved he and Joe Joe put the sign on his office door at work with the Alabamian words and phrases that I used to say and they loved to make fun of. Jeff I know your in Heaven looking down at us so please watch over all of us and let us not forget to have our hearts right with the Lord for you never know when your live on this earth is over. Tell my Mother and Daddy hello for me and give them a big huge. Going to Miss you like crazy Brother!!
