In Memory of
Johnny Floyd Walker
-

Johnny Floyd Walker, 76, was called home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was born on July 22, 1938 in Pointblank, Texas to Demethery and Mary Jane Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Carolyn Walker; his daughter, Whitney Walker; his granddaughter, Clarisse Castillo-Walker (the light of his life); his daughter-in-law, Heidi Castillo; brother-in-law, Glenwood Sullivan; and his sister-in-law, Betty Joe Hicks.

He is preceded in death by his son, Whitman Walker; his parents, and his brothers, William Walker and Thomas Walker.

Johnny battled courageously against multiple health challenges for several years but he remained strong until the very end. Johnny was a loving husband to his wife Carolyn who remained by his side through the very end.

Johnny and Carolyn met after she moved to Pointblank to take care of her ailing father. Johnny was 24 and Carolyn was 17. After dating for only one month, they were married on December 23rd, 1962. They had 2 children, Whitney and Whitman to whom Johnny was a loving and caring father. Johnny and Carolyn were married 51 years, 8 months, and 10 days. The secret to their long and happy marriage was a lot of love, a love of laughter, and a lot of determination.

Deep inside, Johnny was just a country boy who worked hard all of his life, loved his family and loved fishing and hunting.

Johnny's favorite passtime was sharing his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with his 22 month old granddaughter, Clarisse. He looked forward to every Sunday when she would come over to visit and spend the day with Boom-Paw and Grandma.

He will be greatly missed by all those who love him but his memory will live on through his granddaughter, Clarisse.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service with the visitation from 10 am to noon, and the funeral at noon. The interment will follow services at Brookside Memorial Park.

Carolyn & Whitney, I am so very sorry for your loss. John is the closest person that I had that resembled a grandfather, even though he wasn't much of a talker, I always enjoyed having his presence there. I have enjoyed hearing all the funny family stories y'all have shared with me/us throughout the years (the car one is my fave), I will always keep them close. My thoughts and prayers are with y'all through these difficult times. John is in a better place now. I love y'all very much.

My love, Whitney and Mrs Carolyn(Mom 2), I hope that both of you know that I am here for both of you. John did not say much, however he always gave me meaningful tight hugs. I knew that this was his way of expressing his love. We all know that he is in heaven smiling at us while sporting his Cowboy hat, jeans, belt buckle, and boots. We will make sure to tell Clarisse of all the wonderful memories that he left behind.

Thank you for letting me be part of these family memories. I love you both very much.

Heidi Castillo.

Carolyn and Whitney, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know my words won't make wounds heal but I must confess, John was like my silent buddy during holiday meals. I'm not a big talker and neither was John. Watching him made me realize that we don't have to say alot of words to appreciate family and to have a great time. He always looked so relaxed and it felt nice to have someone seem at complete peace. It was an honor to know you. I wish both of you the greatest strength to get through this. I'm here if y'all need me. Bless you both.
