Having attained his pilot’s license as a youth, he enjoyed flying, traveling, old western movies, and reading books.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susanne Ohmes (Gampert); their 6 children, Philipp Ohmes and wife Morningstar of Port Ludlow, Washington, Alexandra Stan and husband Livio of The Woodlands, Texas, Eva Kester and husband Robert of Friendswood, Texas, Lucas Ohmes and wife Margarita of Denver, Colorado, Paul Ohmes of Kelso, Washington, and Johanna Ohmes of Moscow, Idaho;  and 15 grandchildren, Anika, Isabel, Sabine, Myah, Claira, Isa, Katja, Noah, Sophie, Juliet, Kaél, Margot, Baliegh, and step-grandchildren, Lukas and Mayce.

We would like to especially thank all the caregivers, friends, and family that supported us with meals, prayer, and visits throughout this difficult time. We are so grateful for the last three weeks that we got to spend with our father by his bedside, sharing memories and special moments to be treasured forever.
