Mary Jo Birdwell

Mary Jo Stephens Birdwell was born October 16, 1930 in Eden Texas to Enoch Jesse Stephens and Birdie Easterwood. She grew up in Kimble County and Rock Springs Texas, spending much time on the ranches where her father worked. In 1949 she married Lee Ward Birdwell in Maverick County Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Johnnie Beatrice Stephens Cooper, brother Philip Enoch Stephens, brother Allison Carson Stephens and son Tyson Lee Birdwell.

Mary is survived by brother Sidney Stephens and his wife Marta, son Cody Birdwell and wife Terry, son Shannon Birdwell and wife Susi, daughter-in-law Brenda Thomson and her husband Reggie.

She also survived by grandchildren Matt Thomson and his wife Erin, Tiffany Guenther and her husband Keith, Joshua Birdwell, and Heather Collins and her husband Jacob, and Brenda and Reggie’s daughter Ashley

She is survived by great-grandchildren Woodlee, Ford, Scout and Tennessee Thomson, Grant, Hadley, Maggie and Lawson Guenther; and Lena Collins.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member of Grace Crossings in The Woodlands Texas where she had many friends.

Mary loved the Lord and was an avid Bible reader. She knew her Bible well and her Bibles were well worn.

She loved God’s creation and loved seeing the wild animals. She sometimes raised wild animals such as squirrels and possums. She loved working in her yard and planting flowers and she continued to do so into her 90’s.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss I will always remember Mary Use to go and visit her at her home know Mary for 39 years she will be greatly missed she use to show me the videos of the Animals that came to visit at night Rest In Peace Mary love Debbie
