Monica Yvette Reyes, 24, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014.
She was born to Raul and Maria Arratia on May 15, 1989, in Houston, Texas. Monica graduated from Thurgood Marshall High School in 2007 and was a member of the FFA while attending school. She also attended HCC SouthWest Campus after high school. She married her best friend and soulmate Walter Alexander Reyes in 2013, but have been together since August 31, 2007 and they lived together in Missouri City, Texas. They were setting up a new home for their son Alexander Nicholas Reyes, 23 month, in Fresno, Texas.
Monica was a lead bank teller at Wells Fargo Bank located in New Territory. In 2011, Monica was held at gun point when a robbery occurred at the bank.
Michael Ellison, pastor and sherif, was at the scene to protect those at the bank. He was also the one who brought Monica & Walter together as one on March 9, 2013. She was also an employee at Texas Pride Carwash, Academy Sport & Outdoors, & Macy's located in the Galleria of Houston early years.
Monica was a very active woman. She enjoyed spending time with her son and husband as well as her brother & sister. She loved to cook, exercise, read to her son, and travel. She took many road trips with her husband & family in her lifetime.
Monica is survived by one child: Alexander Nicholas Reyes born April 5, 2012 at Women's Hospital of Texas; her husband, Walter Alexander Reyes; her parents, Jose Raul Berman Arratia and Maria Teresa Aguilar Arratia; her brother Jose Raul Arratia Jr; her sister, Amanda Michelle Arratia; and extended families, Arratia family, Reyes family, Aguilar family, Muñoz family, Berman family, Lopez family, and Olvera family.
A viewing will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday night, March 11 and from 10 am until noon on Wednesday, March 12, both at Beresford Funeral Home (13501 Alief Clodine Rd Houston, TX 77082). Church Ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at First Colony Church of Christ (2140 First Colony Blvd Sugar Land, Tx 77489). Burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Houston Memorial Gardens (2426 Cullen Blvd, Pearland, Texas 77004).
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to her husband Walter Reyes.
