In Memory of
Otilia Apodaca
-

Otilia “Tila” Apodaca, 66, our beautiful and loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Humble, Texas.  She was surrounded by her family who witnessed her beautiful passing.  Moments before passing, she stared up at the ceiling, then smiling as though she saw someone who had come to meet and guide her into the next world, her eyes glazing over as she drew her last breath.

Otilia was born March 28, 1954 in Port Isabel, Texas to Isidoro Ochoa, Sr. and Conception Salazar Ochoa.  She was the middle child of six children.  She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1972.  She was married for 47 years to the love of her life, Alexander Apodaca, Sr.  Together they raised two sons, Alexander, Jr. and Philip, in a house full of love and amazing memories.  Family was everything to her and she cherished every minute she got to spend with them.  She loved taking road trips with her husband, creating crafts and exploring her genealogy.  There was never anything her grandkids participated in that she wasn’t right there cheering them on.  She was an amazing cook and loved cooking for her family.  She always put the needs of others ahead of her own.  She loved her family deeply.  She was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints where she loved to teach Primary.  She was a woman of faith.   Her strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ influenced many for good.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years Alexander, Sr.; children, Alexander, Jr. (wife Maria) and Philip Glen (wife Alma); 5 grandchildren, Eric Anthony, Alyssa Rene, Erin Alexia, Ian Alexander, and Diego Elias; her beloved mother Concepcion Ochoa; brother, Isidoro Ochoa, Jr. (wife Mary Helen); brother, Robert Ochoa, Sr. (wife Anna Ochoa); sister, Jinnie Alvarez (husband Albert); and brother Mickey Ochoa (husband Bart Oliphant).

She is preceded in death by her father, Isidoro Ochoa, Sr.; and her sister Maria Medina.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 1 to 4pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (12521 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble, TX 77346).  The memorial service will again be at the church on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 9:30 am. “Alex and family, I am so sorry to hear of Otilia’s passing. She will always have a special place in my heart. I will always treasure the times I had getting to know her and your family in Monrovia. I’m so grateful for the visit when you came to Utah. May you all feel peace and comfort at this difficult time. With all my love, your other “mijo” - Scott Archibald ”

It was back in the late 80’s early 90’s when I had the pleasure of working with Otilia and Alex in the Broadway Ward Primary organization. It was a sad day when Liz Lopez notified me of Otilia’s passing. She was a lovely lady and a faithful follower of Christ. I feel she will continue to watch over her family from heaven. Prayers of comfort and faith for this family. God bless you all!

Otilla was a true friend who was always the same. She always had a sweet attitude every time I saw her. She was the kind of friend that even if you hadn’t seen her in years it felt like just days. She always had a smile and good things to say. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May God give comfort to her family and friends. Rest with God , Otilla . ❤️

We will miss seeing Tila in the front yard watering her flowers and plants with that sweet little wave and smile and those times when we were able to stop and catch up on life, but we are so happy that she is in the arms of her Savior and never has to feel any pain again. We are praying for you, Alex, for your entire family. Whatever you need, just knock on our door.
