Rafael Martinez, of Houston, Texas, passed away at the age of 82 on July 9, 2022, in Sugar Land, Texas.
He was born on November 19, 1939 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Cliserio de Luna and Josefina Martinez.
The first word to come to mind when describing Rafael is Kind. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you could expect him to greet you with a warm, welcoming smile. He was a considerate host and always ensured his guests left with full bellies and happy smiles. He was always a phone call away, ready to help you with whatever you needed. The inconvenience or the importance of the task never mattered to him. If you asked for his help for anything, you received all of his attention every time. And even when you didn’t ask but looked like you needed some help, he would offer it. He made every effort to ensure everyone around him was happy and never complained. He would surprise you with kind words or gifts or some candy that he always seemed to have with him. He loved to dance and would ask you to dance whenever music played, which was often because he always had some salsa music ready to go on his phone. He was the king of the dance floor and could twirl you every which way! He would grab his wife, and they put everyone else on the dance floor to shame, making everyone feel they were watching them from the 80s when they met. He was a loving and adoring husband, a hard worker, and full of one-liners like, “what’s cooking, good looking?” He always took the time to remind everyone around him how special, loved, and beautiful they were. We will miss his laughs, his smiles, and especially his cheesy jokes, “even on Sunday’s!”
Rafael is survived by his wife, Rosa Bulliski. His daughters Angela and Raquel. Angelas’ children, his grandchildren, Brianna and Michael. Stepdaughter Claudia, her husband Everardo, and their children. Grandson Kent Serratos, his wife Brittany and their children, his great-grandchildren Preston Luke, Pierce Alexander, Alec, and Vivian. Granddaughters Karolena and Kimberly Serratos. And his loving dogs, Princess Leia and Vader.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Josefina, and his beloved cat, Schwartz.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 13th Beresford Funeral Service (13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, Texas 77082) with the Visitation beginning at 10 am the Funeral Service beginning at 11 am.
