Sandra Yvonne Hanna VerMilyea, age 81, passed away Tuesday afternoon peacefully in her home on May 26, 2026, Houston, Texas.
Sandra, also known as Sandy, was born June 21, 1944, in Orlando, Florida, daughter of the late Norma K. Hanna and Robert C. Hanna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Barbara D. Livingston as well as her beloved son Raymond VerMilyea and his first-born Christina VerMilyea.
Sandra was considered a true Matriarch of her family and recently celebrated her 64th Wedding Anniversary in April.
In the early 1950’s during Sandys’ grade school years her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. As a child she loved dance, music, animals and attended Hamlin Jr. and W.B. Ray High School, later meeting her life partner and husband, William “Bill” VerMilyea. Bill and Sandy married and moved to Houston in the 60’s
Sandy is survived by her loving husband William H. VerMilyea and children: Vickey VerMilyea Willard (Robert Willard), Duane VerMilyea and Dana (Smith) VerMilyea, Christi VerMilyea-Kyle (Kurt Kyle), Daniel VerMilyea, Michael VerMilyea and Aleksandra (Popovic) VerMilyea, Maria (Menchaca) VerMilyea and grandchildren: Crystal VerMilyea -Popa (Kyle Popa), Kelly VerMilyea, Samantha Burns and Paige Burns, Tara VerMilyea – Reichart (Michael Reichart), Tia VerMilyea-Grimaldo (Gerardo Grimaldo), Brandon VerMilyea, William VerMilyea, Hannah VerMilyea, Joshuah VerMilyea, Joseph VerMilyea, Jacob VerMilyea, Terrance VerMilyea, Tessa VerMilyea, Brooke VerMilyea, Brianna VerMilyea-Morgan, Bobby Duane VerMilyea, 22 plus Great Grandchildren and Neice Kathy Perry and children.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, beginning at 10am-12pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5531 Beechnut St., Houston, TX 77096). Interment to follow at 1:00 pm at South Park Funeral Home (1310 N Main St., Pearland, TX 77581). Reception and celebration of life return to the church at 3pm.

where they settled in to raise a family. Sandy was creative and talented and touched so many lives however, her true life-long accomplishments and vocation was her dedication to her husband and family and her strong faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Daughter, Sister, Wife and Mother of 6 children, 17 grandchildren, and 22+ great grandchildren along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her – Sandy blessed us all with her love, laughter, friendship, wisdom, and teachings of family value and faith. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
