Ms. Sue Kelly was one of those rare people who quietly makes the world sweeter simply by being in it.

We first met through family connections, but we bonded instantly as fellow kindergarten teachers — a relationship built on patience, kindness, and a shared love for little learners. From that first meeting, Ms. Sue was always so genuinely sweet to me.

She and Mr. Greg lived in Houston, Texas, and spent their summers in Maine, where they grew jalapeño peppers on their property and made the most wonderful homemade sweet pepper jelly. I first tasted it at a family gathering years ago and fell in love. After that, every single year, Ms. Sue and Mr. Greg made sure I had my very own jar. It became a tradition I treasured — not just because of the jelly, but because it was made with love.

Ms. Sue also adored her annual Christmas cookie decorating day at her home. My husband and I were blessed to be part of that tradition with her family, and it is something we will never forget. Those moments — filled with laughter, frosting, sprinkles, and togetherness — are memories we will carry forever.

What stood out most about Ms. Sue was the deep love she had for her children and grandchildren, and how clearly that love was returned. You could feel it in every room she entered. I truly hope her grandchildren continue the cookie tradition in her honor — because that kind of love deserves to be passed down.

Ms. Sue, “Grandma,” will always be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the gentle way she touched everyone around her.

Mr. Greg, our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Kelly family. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful soul with us.

With love and gratitude,
Peggy and Ronald Blanchard
