Calvin Neil "Bubber" Ivie Sr., aged 92, of Alvin, Texas passed away with his son by his side on Monday, December 2, 2024. Calvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and uncle.

Born in Purdon, Texas, in 1932, Calvin graduated from Levelland High School in 1949. He began his working career with Fistts Construction Company in Levelland working in the west Texas oil fields repairing electrical power systems. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving until 1954 and achieving the rank of Gunners Mate Second Class leading a crew operating one of the five-inch ship guns. After his military service, Calvin moved to Houston Texas to be close to his family. There he met his future wife Hedy and two years later they married in 1956. His working career led him to the petrochemical refinery industry with Groth Equipment Corp in Houston, Texas, specializing in the repair of safety relief and control valves. At Groth, he excelled in his leadership abilities as a shop foreman. His devotion and skills to his work gained the attention of a co-worker who in 1976 started his own company Control Specialties Inc. and persuaded Calvin to come work for him as superintendent of the repair facility until his retirement.

Calvin enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Houston Astros, Oilers, and Texans. He loved going on deep-sea fishing trips which he organized for company outings. He also enjoyed gardening, playing pool, and barbecuing. In retirement, he cherished spending time with his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
During his 68 years of marriage Calvin's spiritual life was influenced by his wife's commitment to God where she worked bringing the family to come to know God, along with other family members Calvin made a faith commitment becoming baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel Texas.

He is survived by his wife Hedwig “Hedy” Theresa Gasiewicz, his son Calvin Neil Jr., daughter Natalie Marie, daughter-in-law Gari Lynn, and grandchildren: Nikia Marie Ivie, Tanda Rey Belanger, and Tessa Kay Shepherd.
