Our precious mother, Lillian “Marie” Dinges, graduated into heaven peacefully on March 15, 2026 at the age of 97. She has joined in heaven the love of her life and cherished husband, Dr. M. Dan Dinges, who passed in 2014 and her beloved grandson, Dan Oren Dinges, Jr.
Marie was born February 8, 1929 in Fort Worth to Lawrence and Lois Wheeler. She graduated from Reagan High School and was a member of the Reagan Redcoats. Following graduation, she became a Registered Nurse at Hermann Hospital where she and “Dr. Dan” met. They married on July 5, 1949 and celebrated 65 years of marriage. They raised their four children in a loving Christian home. Our beloved mother was the heart of our family and a woman whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she
She was endlessly giving, never expecting anything in return. To her children, she was more than a mother—she was a trusted sounding board, a steady source of wisdom, and a constant presence through life’s ups and downs. Over the years, many of our friends came to know her in the same way, finding comfort in her guidance and kindness. She had a way of listening that made you feel understood and her advice came from a place of genuine love and compassion.
Each day she carried herself with elegance and grace, always “fixed up”—her hair, makeup, and dress, a reflection of who she was. She was an example of how to treat others with respect.
She will be deeply missed, but the fond memories will never fade. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched.
Marie enjoyed entertaining, playing bridge, painting, floral arranging, cooking, family dinners, and especially being the devoted Matriarch and source of love and nurturing care to her family, including being Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her love, resilience, and memories will survive through her extended family. We thank the Lord for her life well lived. She is survived by her daughter Vicky, and husband, Jerry Bennett, Dan, his wife, Susan Vick Dinges, Mark, his wife, Barbara Wakefield Dinges, Jenny, and husband, Joe Knox, along with six grandchildren, Anthony, Lindsey, Michelle, Lauren, Caroline and Marshall and eight great-grandchildren.
