Robert (Bob) Richmond

Longtime Sagemont resident, Robert “Bob” Richmond, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2019.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy Richmond. He is also survived by his children Cristi Pace and husband Ted, Robert Richmond, Jr. and wife Marjo, and Shawn and Jennifer Richmond; grandchildren Scott Pace and wife Katie, Allyson Pascal and husband JJ, Lindsay Richmond, Connor Richmond and wife MacKenzie, Keaton Richmond, McKenna Richmond, Kaitlyn Richmond; and great-grandchild, Paisley Pascal. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Thelma Richmond and many special family members. 

Bob was born on February 11, 1937 in Arkansas City, Kansas. He grew up as an active member of his church youth group, playing sports and was a proud member of the North Kansas City High School Band, where he graduated in 1954. After high school, Bob attended University of Kansas where he continued his love of sports and developed a love of physics. He later transferred to TCU, where he earned a BS in physics.  During and after college, Bob worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. He and Patsy married on June 20, 1958. Bob and Patsy moved to Houston in 1963 and he began working at NASA as a nuclear physicist at Johnson Space Center. Bob worked on many space projects and missions for NASA, including Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle, and The International Space Station where he specialized in radiation. Bob and Patsy were members of Park Place Methodist Church, where he often taught Sunday school classes, and are current members of First United Methodist Church-La Porte. He was an active leader in Sagemont/Beverly Hills Little League, where he coached numerous baseball and softball teams. Bob loved his family, photography, traveling, playing golf and cheering on the Houston Astros.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service which will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, July 22nd at First United Methodist Church, 9601 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas.
