In Memory of
Rolando Tudela Dartayet "Papo"
-

The joy you had was over masked by the pain you carried deep. You gave yourself completely and lovingly to all who knew you. You always had a way of making lite of any situation with your charismatic charm, your award winning smile, your ups your downs. It was who you were never afraid of anything. You pushed things to the extreme and got what you wanted. Your life was short but full and you did it all. You got your first home built from the ground up. You met and married the girl of your dreams. You beat cancer. You survived what most people would not have. You lived a mini life and now it's time for you to go live in the kingdom of heaven, lucky you. You will be loved and missed beyond your comprehension, and until God unites us again farewell to you, a brother, a son, husband and friend.

Please join the family in a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 22, 2014, to be held in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3pm to 6pm, with the service to begin at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to help them during this difficult time. Please sign the guestbook using the link below to let them know you are thinking of them.

Papo, you will be deeply missed. You are part of many of my fun and happy memories growing up. We used to have so much fun playing on the weekends when our parents gathered. You were always smiling and joking with us making us laugh and kept us looking forward to hanging out with you again. I remember always talking about "the river" and planning our next trip there. I remember you always being the life of the party. I always admired you... so smart, so funny, so good-looking, so inviting. We shared so many good times, Papo. It seems unreal that you're gone. I know you are in heaven and at peace. You will always be part of who I am and in my heart. We all miss you and ache that we cannot give you one last hug and kiss. We will reunite one day. Until then, my dear cousin, may you rest in peace.

Papo, the first thing that comes to mind is how funny and full of life you were. So energetic its no wonder so many loved your company. Growing up we had so many memories and you being the oldest you were always the leader. Playing in your room or outside while our parents roasted a puerco and danced in the garage. Telling scary stories or playing jokes, man.. just so many memories and so many things will forever remind me of you. Today we celebrate your life, so many are joining together with you in common. Rest in peace primo.

I first met Roland soon after he asked my close friend to be his bride. He was so full of love and was more than happy to share it. After i met him he asked me to assist his new bride in making sure that her day was as special as she wanted it to be. It was a success. The best part of that day was when I became a witness to his devotion and commitment to forever loving her and her children. He was overflowing with love and was very generous in giving it to the ones he was close to. I didn't know him for very long, but he welcomed me and my spouse into his home his family and his heart. There wasn't a time he was around us that he didn't make us feel as if I were family. During the stages of preparation for the wedding, I had the good fortune of getting to know his family (which he loved so very much) I quickly learned that his ability to love two outsider so easily without knowing us for very long was due to the family he came from. The love he had for his wife and children was without boundaries and was without doubt. Both his mother Father and his sister (along with many others) treated us as we were related with years of knowing each other. My heart is in discomfort for the grief they are feeling and the loss they are suffering. I am very sad that such a good person had to leave us so soon. But I am grateful I was given the opportunity to be a part of his life and the life of such a loving family. I know he is in a place watching over all of us to keep us safe and that makes me feel a bit more comfort. The world was a better place with him in it, but now he is in a place to keep watch over all of us with the intent of keeping us safe. Thank you Roland for being in my life and ,being my friend and for Loving all of us. You will truly be missed my friend.

Papo, I still remember the red battery operated four wheeler you had when you lived in Newark. As a little kid you were my partner in crime when ever I went to visit my father. When I landed in Texas you'd be there to greet me at the airport. As we got older our lives grew apart but Tía Sarita kept me abreast of your achievements. I still have the email in which Tia told me how happy you were about getting married. Despite our distance I always knew that I had a primo, mi "primo hermano" in Texas. Your spirit, smile, cariño and charisma will live on forever in our memories and in our hearts. Love tu primo Mayito.
