Vanesa Arteaga Ordoñez
Vanesa Arteaga Ordoñez, 45, passed away on July 14, 2022 in Houston Texas. She was born in Madrid, Spain on November 22, 1976 to Antonio and Maria, the younger of two daughters. She left two boys aged 10 and 6, and a loving husband.
She grew up as most kids in her generation, and soon developed a deep love for nature. Vanesa was a staunch animal lover and activist, and she collaborated and volunteered for many causes throughout her life.
Vanesa graduated with a major in Computer Science at Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, and after working for a couple of years in Madrid she went to study a postgraduate in Berkeley CA. For her, that was a life-changing experience, where she met a lot of people from all over the world, many of which became close friends that she kept in touch with ever since.
Soon after returning from the US, back to Madrid, she met her future husband. Together they moved to The Netherlands, where their older son Daniel was born. After spending five years in the lovely city of The Hague, they decided to move to the US, initially for a couple of years. Vanessa and her family have been residing in Houston, Texas ever since. Two years after moving to the US, her second son, Alejandro was born.
In the US, Vanesa created a close community of friends that soon became her family abroad. She was known as a kind and charismatic person, always the one to offer her support for all of those in need, never staying behind.
Vanesa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Despite the best effort of her doctors, the illness eventually took her life. Her fight was fierce and brave, and she left no stone unturned to find a better treatment. She spent her last days surrounded by her family and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, July 22nd at Beresford Funeral Home, 13501 Alief Clodine Rd, Houston, TX 77082. The memorial service will be from 9am to 11am. It will also be live streamed via Facebook Live: https://fb.me/e/1VRkVi8DB.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations in Vanessa’s name be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
