"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."

I worked with Eric for the past six years and got to know him well last year since we shared a classroom and taught many of the same students. There were many mornings that I would have students waiting by the door looking for Mr. Parnell. He was very proud of his son and the rest of the George Ranch Football team especially when they won state. He was an announcer for the team and seemed honored to have that role. At times during his lunch, he would invite the students to join him and watch highlights of past games. Eric loved mentoring students and our classroom was their safe place to go.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Eric's passing. I had just seen him the week before as we finished up teaching summer school. When I told him goodbye and to enjoy the rest of his summer, I could of never imagined that it was a final goodbye at least in this life as we know it. I am comforted to know that he is now with his Father in heaven basking in his glory.

Mr. Parnell was a teacher who truly cared for his students. Our son, Xzavior, was lucky to have his guidance through middle school. I know that he will be missed by so many. I am praying for the family of Mr. Parnell and for strength to make it through these times of tragedy. Rest in Peace.
