Aunt Helen was a treasure and blessing to her family. She will be missed for her special talents, hospitality, and care for others. Now she is resting eternally in peace with her loved ones who have entered heaven before her. The last words I remember her saying was, "God has been good to me".

Helen was a very sweet lady and a remarkable example to me throughout our years as Houston Calligraphy Guild members. She was always willing to share her considerable talents and offer kind and caring help. I feel privileged to have known her and will miss her greatly. My sympathy to all of you, her family. The Guild family grieves with you.

I met Helen through the Houston Calligraphy Guild. She was an amazing lady - and her talents were amazing. She told my mom and me that she kept a tablet and pencils by her chair so she could "doodle" while watching TV, and then she showed us her "doodling" - which were amazing calligraphic masterpieces!!!! She was so sweet and kind, and could find beauty in everything. My prayers continue for her family and all of us who will miss her.

I'll never forget the first time I met Helen. She was glowing with an inner beauty that made me stare. Then she spoke with such a gentle kindness. I loved her instantly. As I got to know her better in our Sunday School class, I admired her even more. She was a treasured class member and all of us will miss her and remember her with fondness and appreciation for the time we had with her.

We will keep you in our prays as you go through these days of loss. She is happy in her Savior's presence.

I cannot imagine HCG without our precious Helen. Her
calligraphy was so dainty and she was such a sweet lady.
My first job in HCG was her co-partner on the exhibit
committee. She was my mentor and I admired her.
Sympathy to her family and friends. She will certainly
be missed by many. God takes his angels and keeps them
near. She may be up there painting sunsets...who knows??

Helen will be greatly missed by all her classmates from class of 1951, Pasadena High School. She opened her home to us for lunches, teas and class gatherings plus always helping to plan class reunions and activities. Helen was a kind and thoughtful friend and loved by those that knew her. She was a gifted artist and loved all types of craft work. Again, she will be deeply missed.

It was such a pleasure to be around Helen. She presented an aura of such sweetness and kindness. She was especially kind to me and sent me many cards of love and encouragement during a difficult time in my life. Even when I visited her in hospice she was concerned for me.
I will always remember Helen's kindness. For her family, I know God will provide solace - your difficult time of loss.

I met Helen some years ago through the Houston Calligraphy Guild, she was always generous in sharing her tools when someone showed up for meetings without. Helen had a wonderful art talent that she shared with all who knew her. I will always remember her sweet, always smiling face, with that inner glow she had. I had not realized we both attended the same church, Houston's First Baptist Church, but with it being a very large congregation, not surprising and sorry I missed seeing Helen at services. Helen will be very much missed. I wish her family my sympathies at this difficult time, but know in comfort that Helen will be enjoying the new year in God's care.

When we moved to Glenbrook Valley over 50 years ago, we met Helen and Bennie, and Helen and her family have been part of us ever since. So many wonderful memories of a beautiful, warm, extremely talented lady. Even though we moved around, we continued our friendship. We visited Helen in Friendswood, Pasadena, and later on Woodway, often staying in the cabanas while we went "antiquing" with her. She visited us after we moved to Kerrville and seldom the week went by that we didn't e-mail or speak on the telephone. She lived a beautiful life and we will miss her more than we can ever say.

I met Helen through the Houston Calligraphy Guild. She was in charge of exhibits which were always beautiful and inspiring. She shared her artistic skills and finished pieces with the group as well. I will miss speaking with her each month at our meetings.

Mrs. Shinpaugh was my Health Occupations teacher at Pasadena High School. She taught me and all of her students the importance of honesty, integrity as well as doing your best at everything you strived for in life. I caught up with her on Facebook just a few years before she went to be with The Lord. We had lunch and she graciously showed me her mid-town high rise condominium. I told her that she had really come up in the world compared to living in Pasadena. She immediately caught my humor in saying that. She was a jewel and I am blessed for having known her.
