In Memory of
Kent Steven Cohen
-

Kent Steven Cohen, 68, of Houston, Texas, passed away in the early morning of April 25, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 28, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kent was the youngest of three children. He grew up with a love for sports and was especially fond of swimming and volleyball. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Kent met his wife Cecile, in 1982. They were married in 1990 and later welcomed their daughter, Katie, in 1994. He had a successful 20-year career with Kuehne+Nagel, which allowed him to travel the world for both business and pleasure. Along the way, Kent never met a stranger and formed lasting friendships wherever he went.

Above all, Kent cherished his family. He took great joy in spending time with them and especially loved doting on his beloved granddaughter, Isla. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a trusted mentor to many.

Kent is survived by his wife, Cecile Omo; his daughter, Katie Nesburg, and her husband, Austen Nesburg; his granddaughter, Isla Nesburg; his sister, Nola Walby; his brother, Craig Cohen, and his wife, Denise Brissey-Cohen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Marcia Cohen.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and friends who supported Kent during his final months. Their kindness, compassion, and presence brought comfort and peace during a difficult time.

A celebration of Kent’s life will be held at a later date.

I had the pleasure of working with Kent in both Panalpina and Kuehne+Nagel. A true gentleman, a team player with a huge heart, honest and sincere. A fighter in private life coping with his health struggles, but simultaneously continuing his fights for company success; always advocating that it is a two way street where success of the company is always linked to customer satistfaction. I learnt so much from Kent, a man I truly respect! May his soiul rest in peace.

Kent was someone who touched everyone he worked with. He was collaborative, he was supportive, he spoke his mind and he was tenacious. Kent was an example to people.

But he was more than that. Kent was a pleasure to spend time with. He had the ability to be engaging and to connect with anyone.

Rest In Peace Kent. You will be sorely missed.

I had the privilege of working with Kent — and knowing him as a friend — since 2012. I’ll never forget our first meeting on a work trip to Romania. As first impressions go, he made an unforgettable one. I was genuinely blown away.
Kent’s nature could be direct, passionate, and straight to the point; yet just as often he was caring, supportive, and deeply thoughtful. He had a presence when he walked into a room, and you never quite knew which version of Kent you were going to get that day. But when he spoke — and he did love to speak — you listened.

Working with Kent was something I always valued. He consistently made the team stronger through his insight, his energy, and his ability to inspire. His larger‑than‑life character commanded respect, and his enthusiasm for the work was infectious.
I am grateful and honoured to have known him and to have shared the time we did. His contribution will never be forgotten, and his legacy lives on in the work we continue.
Rest peacefully, Kent. You mattered, and you always will.

To the family of late Kent Cohen,

Do accept my sincerest condolences on the demise of Kent Cohen. As a colleague and friend of Kent, he will always be remembered as a gentle giant with a kind heart.
I had the honour to work alongside with Kent for a few of his favourite clients and witness first hand how he never shy from difficult conversation regardless internally or externally. He played a pivotal role and took pride of his service to both his client and his own organisation and saying that he served with his heart and soul will be an understatement. When he does mention about his family, he was always beaming with pride and one can truly felt how his family meant the world to him.

Adios, one of the legends in our industry and imo, GOAT! Kent, you fought the good fight and may your soul rest in peace.

A world without Kent in it is hard to imagine. Already now, we miss his laugh, his passion, his great sense of humor and his big heart. A voice ever so loud and always relevant - the silence is deafening. Kent left his mark in the professional world and collected friends along the way. He fought bravely until the end. Rest easy, my friend. You are sorely missed.

We will miss you Kent. A legend of our industry has passed.

I think what remains for me now are the stories that I will remember Kent by. I have known Kent since around 2005 and worked with, competed against and more recently worked with again. In 2008 he really helped me and my family (with a new born baby) having moved to a weird country (France) by winning a ton of business in my area. Don't worry Graham, I got your back. Relax and make sure you service the customer well.

Years later I was so proud to be competing against him for a major global award. I threw the kitchen sink at it, since I was competing against the best. After truly an exceptional customer show I drove the customer to be handed over to Kent in Dubai, except he wasn't there. I called Kent straight away, what are you playing at Kent. Graham, are you crazy, the business is a load of XXXX and you can have it. He was of course, completely correct.

I, like many companies tried to steal Kent from KN. He would never budge and never entertain the idea. His loyalty was recognised across the industry and anyone who tried to compete on his accounts would assume they had been deliberately set up to fail. Compete with Kent, no thanks.

Most recently, slightly falling off his bike in the Netherlands in a shower of profanity had me nearly crashing with laughter. His very dirty Martini and high spirits were a joy in our last meeting in February this year.

What I really enjoyed with Kent over the years, was looking up to him. Not just his extensive knowledge but his bloody minded determination. Always putting customers first, always blunt as an axe internally and externally. Many of us who grew up with Kent learned to try to be like him in some way. You could ask Kent anything and he would keep your confidence . A real gentleman of the industry.

Finally, his mischief. A man who would collapse a finely tuned corporate strategy with a short question. Ask him his opinion at your peril..but often you didn't need to ask.

Rarely do you meet characters like Kent and I am proud to have worked with him, laughed with him and occasionally been sworn at by him

RIP Kent

I met Kent many years ago in my professional life. I was working for Cameron at that time and was in charge of Logistics in our French facility. As a customer of Kent, we worked together up to his retirement time. It was always a pleasure to welcome Kent in our facility in the south of France and to share always nice time during lunch near the Canal du Midi. I also had the occasion to visit Kent in Houston where he always took a great care of us. Thank you Kent for all these moments. We miss you.

It’s hard to put into words what Kent meant to so many of us. After a brave battle with cancer, he left us far too soon—just before he could enjoy the well deserved retirement. That feels especially unfair, because few people gave as much of themselves as he did to many of us.
Kent was deeply committed to his family, and that commitment showed in the way he cared about people everywhere he went. Customer care wasn’t just his job—it was his calling. He stood up for service improvements, argued his clients’ corners passionately, and was never afraid to speak his mind when it mattered. Many times, that came with a well placed f bomb, but it always came from the right place: doing what was right.
He loved Kuehne + Nagel and embodied what the company should stand for. When I joined KN in 2017, he was there for me—generous with his time, advice, and encouragement. Our morning coffees were frequent, filled with honest conversations, laughter, and his unmistakable mischievous humor. That sparkle in his eyes said everything—you always knew something witty was coming.
What I will remember most is how he cared. He never failed to ask about my family and my kids. He noticed people, remembered details, and made you feel valued. That kind of kindness stays with you.
Kent has gone far too soon, but his impact remains—in the people he helped, the standards he fought for, and the friendships he built. He will never be forgotten, and he will always be missed.

Kent - one of a kind, bold, passionate, caring, down to earth, tell it like it is, no pretense. Our friend and colleague will be missed.
