Lewis Floyd Godwin Jr.
-

Lewis Floyd Godwin, Jr., 55, passed away on April 17, 2011 in Houston, Texas. He was born on October 23, 1955 to Lewis & Hermie Mae Godwin in Atmore, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife, Kristin; three daughters, Lori, Leslie, and Sarah; step-children, Angelica and Zion; one sister, Debbie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His motorcycle was a 2001 Road King named Lucille and he was a lifetime Harley Davidson club member. He was extremely handy and crafty with metalwork and leather-work. He made a paperweight with the State of Texas emblem. He really loved animals and he was very talented with computers. He built his own radiator cooling system for his computer. Some people called him "Screwie Lewie".

He was awarded a special plaque for helping a police officer in Temple during an altercation, saving the officer's life.

After serving in the U.S. Army infantry, he became a master plumber. He owned Town & Country plumbing in Temple, Texas before moving back to Houston where he was a plumbing manager for AMS and retired in 2010.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church (800 Brooks Street, Sugar Land, TX 77478).

Lewis was my next door neighbor and we became good friends, but lost touch when he moved away. Lewis made me laugh and feel good. He loved his little girls and he loved to have a good time. I will remember him as he was - funny, friendly, and a good person. Rest in peace my friend.

Lewis~ I'll never forget the day we met...the first time our eyes met and we knew what our futures held. I'll never forget our first ride together where this picture of you and Lucille was taken. I'll never forget when you asked me to marry you how you promised I would be your Queen. I'll never forget how you treated me like your Queen. Although our time together was way too short we lived a lifetime together. We had something so special...so unique...so pure that it scared us both at times. Life was so hard on you and you never deserved any of it yet you didn't let it change who you were. You were the most loving, giving and compassionate man. I miss you so much and there isn't a second that goes by that you aren't in my thoughts or in my heart. I carry you with me now and always. I love you with all of my heart and soul Lewis. I miss you so very much. Thank you for being such a good husband.

Although our time together was limited Lewis, you treated me with the love and kindness of a million years. Even the first time we met, I knew you were a blessing in my life. You are so greatly missed Screwy Lewi, but will continue to live on in our memory and our hearts.

It's been a lot of years and I still think of Lewis.
