In Memory of
Marcel Elias Rizk
-

Marcel Rizk passed away after his battle with cancer at the age of 77 on October 18, 2022. He was surrounded with love by his wife and children before his passing.

Marcel was born in Beirut, Lebanon on December 4, 1944. He was the fourth of seven children of Elias and Tamam Rizk. Marcel was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved to go hunting. He quickly became a “Jack of All Trades”, learning whatever he could which drove him to pursue opportunities outside of his home country.

He lived in Australia in the early 1970’s with his aunt continuing to improve his skills. In the mid-1970’s, Marcel moved to the United States and settled in the Houston area following his twin sister, Josephine. He continued his work in numerous trades allowing him to form a lifetime of lasting and loving friendships.

He married Kamelia Helmy Mikhail, from Cairo, Egypt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Houston, TX on April 19, 1980. Soon after marriage in June of 1980, Marcel became a naturalized citizen of The United States of America and continued his diligent work to provide a strong foundation for his family in this new country. Together for 42 years, Marcel & Kamelia pursued the American Dream to create a beautiful life for their four children and were blessed with five grandchildren.

Marcel was the most caring of grandfathers or Gedo as Julian, Noah, Olivia, Camille and Imogen so affectionately knew him. In the time they were fortunate enough to spend with him, they were taught lessons of hard work and genuine kindness that will remain with them their entire lives.

He had several hobbies including watching westerns, hunting, and gardening. His favorite actor was John Wayne, and his favorite flower was the Gardenia. He loved to barbecue and always be around family.

Marcel is remembered as kindhearted, forgiving, and always seeing the best in others. If he saw someone in need, he was quick to offer them kindness. During his last few hours with his family, he spoke of loving and supporting one another without fighting.

Marcel was preceded in death by his parents Elias & Tamam Rizk. His siblings Joseph Rizk and Henriette Malek and his brother-in-law Samir Nazzal.

Marcel is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kamelia Rizk. His siblings Henry Rizk, Josephine Nazzal, Marguerite Salem and Rene Rizk. His children Fadi Marcel Rizk & wife Jessica, Venessa Marcel Rizk-Rivera, John Marcel Rizk & wife Blaire and Jehan Jennifer Rizk. His five grandchildren who adored their Gedo with all of their hearts: Julian Alan Rivera, Noah Edmond Rizk, Olivia Madeleine Rizk, Camille Elaine Rizk and Imogen Sama Rizk. Along with many nephews, nieces and close friends.

Funeral services for Marcel Rizk will be held Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at Our Lady of The Cedars Catholic Church located at 11935 Bellfort Village Dr. Houston, TX 77031. Viewing begins at 6pm followed by the Rosary at 6:30pm and service at 7pm. Marcel’s burial service will be held Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 at 2pm at Carmen Nelson Bostick “A Garden of God” Cemetery located at 12317 Holderrieth Rd. Tomball , TX 77375.

Special thanks to Dr. Kelvin Allenson with Methodist Hospital Medical Center for his compassionate care. Beresford Funeral Home and Our Lady of The Cedars Catholic Church.

My Daddy was the most amazing man I had the privilege of knowing and being related to. I miss him so much. He had the kindest and most forgiving soul. I can only hope to gain his wonderful attributes. I love you Daddeo!! ❤
