Marianne La Point Purcell, a longtime resident of Houston, passed away Friday evening, January 25, 2013 with family and friends at her side. She was born in St Louis, MO on January 9, 1950, the eldest of three children of Dorothy and George La Point. When she was 7, her family moved to Houston, and she was raised in the Westbury section of Houston. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1968 and continued her education at the University of Houston.

Marianne was preceded in death by her son, Sean and father, George.
She is survived by her husband Tom, son Brian (Janessa), daughter Meghan, grandsons Tyler and Dylan, mother Dorothy, brothers Marty (Gloria) and Larry, mother-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law.
There will be a memorial service held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, Texas 77065 on Friday February 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow.

went and was the adopted mother, grandmother and favorite aunt of cub scouts and girl scouts all over Houston. Many Houston homes hang wreaths and handmade crafts made by her talented hands and creative mind.

My mother was the most compassionate and giving person I have ever known. There was nothing but love in her heart for everyone she came in contact with. She was one tough cookie and led by example. If you got out of line she "WOULD" let you know. I truely miss her now and always will. I love you mom!!

Marianne, I know you are right now keeping all God's angels laughing. You will be missed.
I miss you so much Mom. You've always been my best friend and the one person I could tell absolutely anything and everything to. You could always make anyone laugh and made friends with everyone. You’re an amazing mother and friend and I am so grateful and lucky to have you. You're the strongest and toughest woman I've ever met and I know that with you watching over me in Heaven, I will be okay again. I love you.
The world is a lonelier place without you. I miss you more than I thought possible.
Marianne - I will always have wonderful memories of our days with Pack 1130. Your smile and laughter lit up every event and the Scouts loved you.
Brian and Meghan - Pam and I watched you grow, and know how proud your mom was of you. You meant the world to her. Tom - All our best. Please stay in touch.
Marianne, I love you so much! So many of my childhood memories are lined with your smiles, laughter, and, dare I say, antics. You are a wonderful, strong, caring woman and we are all better people because of you. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
