Marianne La Point Purcell, a longtime resident of Houston, passed away Friday evening, January 25, 2013 with family and friends at her side. She was born in St Louis, MO on January 9, 1950, the eldest of three children of Dorothy and George La Point. When she was 7, her family moved to Houston, and she was raised in the Westbury section of Houston. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1968 and continued her education at the University of Houston.
went and was the adopted mother, grandmother and favorite aunt of cub scouts and girl scouts all over Houston. Many Houston homes hang wreaths and handmade crafts made by her talented hands and creative mind.
She made the best of bad situations by saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” She will be greatly missed.
Marianne was preceded in death by her son, Sean and father, George.
She is survived by her husband Tom, son Brian (Janessa), daughter Meghan, grandsons Tyler and Dylan, mother Dorothy, brothers Marty (Gloria) and Larry, mother-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law.
There will be a memorial service held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, Texas 77065 on Friday February 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow.
