Olamide Damilola Okusanya was born on September 23rd, 1997, in Shagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. She was the first child in a close-knit family of five children and carried the responsibilities and joys of her role with strength and grace.

Growing up in Nigeria, Olamide spent her early years in Ikorodu, Lagos State. She began her educational journey at Citizens Nursery and Primary School Ikorodu,where her intelligence and drive were evident from a young age. She later attended De-Young Comprehensive College, also in Ikorodu, and graduated from secondary school at just 14 years old—a reflection of her academic brilliance and determination.

Before turning 16, Olamide relocated to the United States to continue her education and chase her dreams. She enrolled at Houston Community College, where she further nurtured her academic and personal growth. Her passion for technology and security led her to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity at the university level.

Always driven by a sense of duty and purpose, Olamide went on to join the United States Army. Her service was marked by courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. In 2024, she proudly became a full citizen of the United States, a milestone that reflected her journey of transformation, dedication, and achievement.

Beyond her academic and military accomplishments, Olamide was known for her selflessness, courage, and deep compassion. She touched the lives of many with her caring nature and her willingness to stand for what was right. She embodied the spirit of leadership not just in uniform, but in the everyday moments of life—always putting others before herself.

Her time around was deeply appreciated by all especially by the family and her sincere legacy definitely lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were privileged to know her. Olamide Okusanya Elizabeth was more than a soldier and scholar—she was a beacon of strength, love, and hope. Her memory continues to inspire those who knew her and even those who learn about her remarkable journey.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:30pm at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery (2426 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, TX 77581).

Your strength, your selflessness, and your heart of gold continue to inspire me every single day. You carried so much with so much grace, always putting others before yourself.

Even though you’re no longer here with us, your love still surrounds me. I miss your voice, your guidance, and your presence more than words can say.

Thank you for everything you gave us in your time here. I will forever carry your memory in my heart and live in a way that honors you.

Olamide was more than my sister—she was my role model, my encourager, and my safe space.

She had the biggest heart and the strongest spirit. No matter where she was, she always made sure we felt loved and supported.

I miss her every single day, but I’m grateful for the time we shared. I will carry her strength and love with me always.

Rest well, Olamide. I love you forever.
 

Olamide mi owon, oremi atata, you were such an amazing person, focused, dedicated, compassionate, reserved, committed, caring and easy going. Having you as a friend was a huge honor, thank you for giving me the privilege of knowing you. I still think of the Jollof rice you cooked and how tasty it was, and the chicken stew, OMG! It was beyond delicious, thank you for being there all the time. You will always be in my heart and I’ll forever cherish our memories together.
The iron to my Anemia, Undisputed world champion of indomie cooking 🏆🏆 (Inside joke) I miss you so much and I hope you find peace in the after life. Rest in the bosom of the Almighty my beloved friend. I LOVE YOU

Family Appreciation:

The family of the late Olamide Damilola Okusanya wishes to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to everyone who stood by us during this difficult time.

We are sincerely thankful to all who attended the burial, sent messages of condolence, prayed for us, supported us financially and emotionally, and shared in our grief. Your presence, words, and acts of kindness brought comfort and strength in ways we cannot fully express.

To our friends, extended family, colleagues, neighbors, and the community at large—thank you for honoring Olamide’s memory with us. Your support reminded us that we are not alone and that Olamide’s life touched many hearts beyond our home.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are also filled with gratitude—for the love shown to our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, and for the encouragement shown to us as we lay her to rest.

May God bless you all abundantly, and may we continue to find strength and peace in the love and unity that surrounded us during this time.
