Patsy Elizabeth Brown, 80, of Huntsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023. She was born of George W. Wells and Freddie J. Schmidt “Freida” on December 4th, 1942 in Houston, Texas.
Preceded in death by Edwin W. Brown, Jr. “Ed or Buddy” 2013, her loving son Edwin W. Brown, III “Trey” 2015, step-mother Irene Wells, sister Charlotte Ellison 2006 and nephew James Ellison 2019, two brothers and sister-in-law’s HT and Wilma Wells, Donald and Karen Wells and sister-in-law Nancy Barosh. Even though Patsy lost both of her parents at a young age, they made an indelible impression on her and established a foundation that served her throughout her adult life.

Patsy graduated from Jessie H. Jones Senior High School in 1961, was married in 1961 to Ed Brown and raised three children Trey, Paul and Angela in Spring Branch of Houston. She became an early adopter of personal computing in the 1980’s and pursued a career in business accounting and computer applications. Separated from Ed Brown in 1989, she then met husband George Hofmann “Buddy” in 1991 and retired in Huntsville, Texas and devoted herself to her family and gardening.

The word “can’t” was not in Patsy’s vocabulary. Family remembers the occasion while going to visit her brother in Burns Flat, Oklahoma, her 1965 Oldsmobile 442 broke down on the highway, from the trunk she pulled out her tools, fixed the car with no hesitation or despair. The countless hours she spent designing, crafting and sewing her first daughter-in-law’s wedding dress. One friend remembers she was the only person they ever saw solve a Rubik’s Cube. Another friend recalls the fun time they traveled by car all the way across our states to Ludington, Michigan. Patsy’s had a fierce determination, strong will and resourcefulness too conquer anything set forth.
Patsy is survived by her husband Buddy Hofmann, sister Janice Gallaway “Jan”, son Paul Brown, daughter Angela Gutierrez, grandchildren Brittany Stringfellow, Christen Brown, Michael Brown, Alexis and Alissa Gutierrez, brother-in-law Benny Ellison, nieces and nephews, Donna Kay, Natalie, and David Wells, Molly Brooks, Zachary Wiseman, Amy Ellison, Debi, Gayle and Cindie Barosh, four great grandchildren, and loved ones too numerous to count.
Patsy E. Brown impacted lives in the most positive ways and leaves many in gratitude and heartbreak.

Oh, please don't feel guilty
It was just my time to go.
I see you are still feeling sad,
And the tears just seem to flow.
We all come to earth for our lifetime,
And for some it's not many years
I don't want you to keep crying
You are shedding so many tears.
I haven't really left you
Even though it may seem so.

I know you long to see me,
But there's nothing I can do.

Known for her quick-wit and confidence, Patsy had the “sweetest personality” always smiling, outgoing, never met a
stranger and made friendships daily. Remembered as a “straight shooter”, Patsy was the natural choice for those closet too her seeking direct honest advice. Patsy was a very engaged grandma and great-grandma that lavished their affection. Attending family events and was particularly fond of celebrating birthdays with her great-grandchildren. Her sweet disposition and amazing sense of humor was surpassed only by her tenacity, resourcefulness and direct honesty.
