Roberta J Owens, 87, of Houston TX, passed away on December 27, 2019.
Roberta was born in Battle Creek MI, July 5, 1932, daughter of the late Carol and Leah Treadwell. Roberta is preceded in death by her husband Wiley B (Skip) Owens and her daughter Winona Owens. She is survived by her two Sons/Daughter-In Law Robert Kelly and Treasa Owens and Doug & Terri Owens, three grandchildren Barbara (Owens) Burris, Cody Owens, Steve Owens, five great grandchildren, Doug & Terri’s extended blended family and Terri’s Children, Rebakah and other family and friends.
Due to illness at age 14 doctors advised her parents that she live in dryer and warmer climate and they moved to California. They lived in several places before settling in Whittier CA where she met Wiley B (Skip) Owens while attending Whittier High School. Roberta and Skip were married on December 31, 1950.
Roberta, Skip and her children lived in Whittier, Ventura, back to Whitter and finally in Houston, TX due to Skip’s job relocations.
After their retirement Roberta, Skip and her beloved dog Smokey would travel the country in their mobile home. When not traveling, her passion was fishing at her home away from home at Lake Limestone, TX with family and friends.
Roberta was a devoted mother to her children and ensuring that they received care and education. Roberta was a self-taught accountant and worked for several businesses as well as running her own business. During her time while living in Californian there were many, many family gatherings celebrating the Holidays, Birthdays and Anniversaries. Her family will miss those times.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a local Downs Syndrome Center or Special Olympics in your area.
