Vincent James Buonassisi sauntered through the big pearly gates on the morning of February 19th to be reunited with his angel of a wife, Ethel Buonassisi, whom he had been married to for 57 years before her passing in 2012. Vince was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and padrone of his family, and he made sure to tell everyone he knew that he was so Italian, he had pasta fagioli running through his veins. He identified as a Goomba through and through, and loved to tell elaborate stories and sing showtunes, sometimes at obnoxious decibels.
He was born on September 3, 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Theresa Buonassisi and sisters Mary Jankowski, Jennie Nicolett, and Ida Jacabacci, as well as son-in-law Tim Scott. He is
survived by his daughter Lisa Spearman, son Richard Buonassisi, and daughter Karen Scott. He is also survived by grandchildren Jessica Bardsley, Vincent Spearman, Travis Spearman, Jeremy Buonassisi, Hayley Von Frank, Elyse Bagwell, and Derek Scott as well as great-grandchildren Kyle Kenoski, Mahayley Bardsley, Cash Spearman, Dylan Bardsley, Evelyn Von Frank, Timothy Von Frank, William Spearman and daughter-in-law Theresa Buonassisi and many nieces and nephews.
Vince loved his family above all else and was a father to many regardless of blood. He was overly generous with his abundance of advice, even when no one was asking. He entered the Marine Corps as a young, cocky, smartass of a boy and he would tell you that decision would go on to save his life. He left the Marine Corps a man full of patriotism, honor, and love for his country. Although the Marines turned him into the hardworking, regimented leader that went on to work into his late seventies, he never lost his ability to bust everyone’s chops.
We will miss him terribly, and although we are heartbroken from his passing, he would tell us to knock it off and live life to the fullest. We raise our forks of spaghetti and glasses of good scotch to him.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital because frankly Vince thought flowers at a funeral were stupid. Please help the kids instead.
