Youssef Fouad “Joe” Boutros passed away on December 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 14, 1942, in Darbechtar, Koura District, Lebanon, to Fouad and Adel Boutros, Joe’s life was a testament to perseverance, excellence, kindness, and love.
Joe moved to the United States to pursue education and opportunity, earning his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1969. What followed was a successful career that took him around the world and earned him the respect of colleagues across industries and continents. He began his career at J.E. Sirrine Engineering and relocated to Houston in 1972. He later led Temple-Inland’s in-house engineering division and then led the manufacturing and mining division at Brown & Root. In 1999, Joe joined Jacobs Engineering, where he managed major global projects for 20 years before retiring in 2018.
Despite a remarkable career, he remained modest and unassuming. Joe’s professional achievements were matched only by his character. He was a true gentleman—kind, gracious, and deeply respected. His leadership and mentorship left a lasting impact on colleagues and friends alike, and he had a rare gift for making everyone feel valued and heard.
Above all, Joe was devoted to his family, who were the center of his life and his greatest source of pride and joy. He cherished his wife of over 50 years, Fadia, and was a loving, steady presence for their children, Tony and Tina. Becoming a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and he delighted in every moment spent with Jack and Ian. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being present, Joe showed his love through constant support, patience, love, and generosity. Joe was most happy when spending time together as a family, especially sharing rounds of golf with his grandsons—a passion he discovered in college and nurtured throughout his life. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, family, great food, and a sports match forever in the background.
Joe also had a lifelong love of bridge. He learned the game in college and played faithfully for decades, enjoying both the challenge and the camaraderie it brought. He especially loved playing in tournaments until the COVID pandemic, after which he continued playing online with close friends.
Joe’s impact extended far beyond his immediate family. He was the beloved patriarch of his extended family and a trusted mentor to many of his family members, particularly his nieces and nephews. In the days following his passing, the outpouring of messages and memories from family and friends has been deeply humbling—a reflection of how profoundly Joe touched the lives of so many. Guided by a deep and abiding faith, he led by example, offering wisdom, compassion, and quiet strength, and his influence will be felt for generations.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Boutros. He is survived by his loving wife, Fadia Boutros; his son, Tony Boutros; his daughter, Tina Boutros Kirby; his grandchildren, Jack Kirby and Ian Kirby; his brother, George Boutros; his sisters, Dunia Ghosn, Siham Yacoub, and Mary Khoury; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary doctors, nurses, and staff at MD Anderson for their compassionate care, and to Abouna Milad, Abouna Edward, his beloved nephew, Abouna Pierre, and the entire Maronite Catholic community for their unwavering support, friendship, and prayers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church, 11935 Bellfort Village Dr, Houston, TX 77031, starting with a visitation at 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass at 7:00 p.m. and a mercy meal at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s name to Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church.
Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered. His legacy of humility, integrity, and faith-filled love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
