Angel “Mickey” Cruz-Rivera of Cidra, Puerto Rico passed away at the age of 80 on August 10, 2022, in Houston, TX.
He was born on April 10th, 1942, in Cidra, Puerto Rico to Monserrate Cruz and Catalina Rivera/Justiniana Vicente. He was the third oldest of 28 siblings. At a young age he moved to New York City and lived there for 20 years and returned to PR in 1970.
Angel was a contractor for many years in Puerto Rico and New York City. He specialized and had a passion for fine wood cabinetry. Throughout the years he enjoyed working with his hands and seeing a room transformed. He met his wife Luz Gonzalez in the early 1970’s and they joined their lives on February 20th, 1973. Angel adored entertaining people with stories and loved a great laugh. He quickly made friends, loved to play his guitar and dancing to good music. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to talk about his boyhood in Cidra and loved to tell stories about his 27 siblings.
Angel was survived his wife Luz C Gonzalez, children Myrna (Nelson) Vargas, Miguel Angel Cruz, Evelyn Cruz, Javier Cruz & Lestty (Herman) Cruz. Grandchildren Newlyn Vargas, Deirdre Vargas, Nelson Vargas, Yaitza Vargas, Javier Cruz Jr., Dailynne Vargas & Bryan Leon and 20 surviving siblings, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins.
Angel was preceded in death by his parents Monserrate Cruz, Catalina Rivera/Justiniana Vicente, brothers Vicente Cruz, Hermogenes Cruz, Margarita Cruz, Evelyn Cruz, Angel Manuel Cruz, Edgardo Cruz & Monserrate Cruz, Jr.
