Carol Ann (Harrison) Dalton passed peacefully on January 21, 2026 in Katy, Texas at the age of 88. She lived with dementia and associated health issues for the last four years but seemed happy with a big smile on que!
She was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 6, 1937. Carol, aka “Carla” was a resident of Katy and Houston, Texas for the last 20 years, after having lived in Colorado, Delaware, Virginia, and Florida several different times.
Carla raised a family of four, and worked with her hands on finely detailed objects in dentistry as a lab technician, and in manufacturing building nuclear sensors, parts of satellites, even missiles!
She loved nature and animals, especially Tina her beloved chihuahua. She loved to garden and loved God’s creatures, great and small; turtles, lizards, cats, rabbits, birds and especially ducks!
Carla was a caregiver to many in her family over the years, including her granddaughter Elise until 18 months of age, and her Mother Alice in her final years.
She was an accomplished seamstress,
After meeting Harold Chadwick, aka “Chad” in 2000, she began to travel with him, including China and Ireland, and played many rounds of golf between St. Petersburg, FL and Franklin, NC.
They decided to relocate to Katy Texas in 2006 and spent many goods times with her son Scott, daughter-in-law Fran, and grandchildren Elise, Elena, and Eli. Chad passed in 2012, and she joined Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club, enjoying many years playing with the “ladies” there. More travel ensued including Mexico, Bermuda, Panama, Jamaica and some of the Caribbean Islands.
In 2018, becoming less active, with a three-bedroom home to maintain, she decided to move into Eagle’s Trace retirement community, only five minutes from Scott’s family. An active community, she joined the shuffleboard team and made many new friends there. This is where she spent her final years.
She is survived by her children, Walter E. Irvine of Largo, Florida; Laura Hiles of Panama City, Florida; Tracey A. Whitley (Bill) of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Scott A. Irvine (Frances Vallejo) of Houston, Texas, all children from her first marriage to Walter Irvine of Warner Robbins, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren Walter Irvine IV, Amanda Falso, Christina Wilder, Leeanna Balsley (Luke), Elise Stary (Tristan), Elena Irvine (fiancé Jacob Hicks), and Eli Irvine. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren: Logan and Abigail Falso, Lillian, Clair, and Eleanor Balsley and Vincent Stary. Her siblings, Hugh Harrison, Sandra Gallegos, and Sharon “Holly” Menze survive her. She was preceded in death by second husband Gerald Dalton and Harold Chadwick, parents Alice Taylor and James Harrison, siblings Donna Sullivan, James Harrison, John Harrison, Richard Harrison, and Debbie Koronkiewicz.
We would like to thank Hien Vo for loving Carla deeply. She was her caregiver and friend literally every day for her final three years, and the family is deeply grateful.
A Celebration of Life to honor Carol’s memory will be held in Denver, Colorado in April.
Please send remembrances to BeresfordFunerals.com.
