Danny Ray Gortney, born March 28, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on May 8, 2026.
Danny spent his early years in the Dallas area before moving with his family to Houston and eventually settling in Sugar Land, the place he would proudly call home.

Known for his strong work ethic and steady hands, he later earned his Air Conditioning and Heating license and built his own business—an accomplishment that reflected his determination, skill, and independence.

Danny married the love of his life, Jennifer, and together they built a family that was his greatest pride. He is survived by his children: Brook and her husband Erik, Brian and his wife Helena, and Jessica.
He was a devoted and playful “Papa” to Kade, Kailyn, Gregory, Brayden, Peyton, Preston, Pierson, and Parker, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
Danny is also survived by his brother George Timothy Gortney and his wife Vivian, who shared countless memories and adventures with him and Jennifer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Ray and Clarice Gortney, who now welcome him home.
