Frank Thompson went to be in the company of our Lord on June 3, 2024. He was born November 5th, 1928, in Pittsburg, Kansas to Franklin and Grace Thompson. He moved to Baytown, Texas at the age of 13 and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1946.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Roxana and his sister and brother-in-law Betty (Bill) Cockerham. He is survived by his children: Trisha (Glenn) Barrett of Bryan, Mike (Cindy) Thompson of Kingwood, Sue (Charlie) Wiley of Alice, and David (Debbie) Thompson of Kerrville; 8 grandchildren: Tess Dyke, Beth Silsby, Sara Borrelli, Scott Barrett, Hank Wiley, Amy Weatherly, Kathy Littlefield, and Jeni Albin; 18 great-grandchildren and a niece, Jana Morgan.
He was employed by Culpepper Furniture in Baytown for 28 years, the last six years of which he was the general manager. He was hired by Wickes Furniture of Chicago as the general manager and later promoted to region manager. He returned to Texas in 1979 to start his own business as a factory representative for Paoli Furniture from which he retired in 1999.
While in Baytown, he was on the Board of Stewards for Grace Methodist Church. He was also president of the Kiwanis Club and served two years as president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In 1955, he was selected as "Young Man of the Year" by the Baytown Chamber of Commerce.
Frank moved to Atascocita, Texas in 1979 and was a charter member of Atascocita Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the building committee for their new church. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Atascocita Golf Club.
He was currently a member of First Methodist Conroe Church where he and his wife, Roxy, were faithful members. They served as heads of the hospital visitation mission for many years.
Frank was an active golfer with memberships at Goose Creek Country Club, Atascocita Country Club and Panorama Village Golf Club. In his golfing career, he had three holes-in-one and shot his age or better over 100 times. He was senior Champion at Atascocita Golf Club, Wedgewood Golf Club and Texas National Golf Club. He especially enjoyed golfing with his wife Roxy, his favorite partner.
In 2004, Frank and Roxy started the "Panorama Samaritans" Christmas Program benefiting needy children in the Willis area. This party for young kids has continued to grow over the years. It is now one of Montgomery County's largest charity events.
A memorial service will be held on June 18th with visitation at 10am followed by the service at 10:30am at Beresford Funeral Service, 13501 Alief Clodine Road, Houston, TX 77082.
