Harold Floyd Jackson was born in Port Arthur, TX on March 26,1932 to David C. Jackson and Nell O'Lea McGarrahan Jackson, and passed away on January 12, 2026 in Sugar Land, TX at the age of 93.
Harold grew up in Port Arthur and was involved in Boy Scouts, Wood Shop, ran track and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1952. He was drafted in the Army in 1953 and was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX.
In 1953, while home on leave, he eloped with Barbara Ann Richards, a marriage that lasted 56 years. He went back to El Paso, and she joined him there after she graduated High School. Upon his discharge from the Army, they moved to Groves, TX and he worked at Gulf Oil. After having three daughters, the family moved to Nederland, TX in 1962 where he built the home his
He loved wood-working, carpentry, metalworks, and all things mechanical. Over the years he enjoyed softball, volleyball, painting, and wood carving. There was nothing he couldn't design and build. He was a die hard Astros (never missed a game), Houston Rockets, and Dallas Cowboys fan, even meeting Tom Landry once!
He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, and served as an elder in Nederland and taught bible classes. He and Barbara relocated to Richmond, TX after retirement to be near their children and grandchildren. He loved gardening, maintaining his 2 acres, and turned it into a well manicured
showpiece. He was preceded in death by his parents and all 6 siblings, Steven Jackson, Peggy Weldon, Mary Forsythe, Chester Jackson, Janice Byram, and Robert Jackson, and son-in-law, Charles Wegman.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Deborah Pearson, Sharon Galvan (David), Judith Wegman, and Amy Jackson. Also 7 grandchildren, Brent and Brian (JoAnna) Kaul, Michael Galvan, Rachel Jones and Becky (Daniel) Sherrill, Taylor Muckelroy, and Sofie Chupin. His 11 Great-Grandchildren are Walker Kaul, Kenzie and Jackson Kaul, Noah and Lyla Galvan, Jacob and Jordan Jones, Ryan Manganiello, Caleb and Emmalyn Sherrill, and Jesse Aviles. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and Brother-in-Law, Mike Richards and wife Cynthia.
Harold loved his country, was a proud veteran, and served as an alternate/delegate at numerous GOP conventions.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those desiring to make a charitable donation to the Missions Fund at First Colony Church of Christ or Lifeline Chaplaincy.
A memorial service will be held on February 13, 2026 at the First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479. Visitation will be at 1pm, with the service following at 2pm.
