Joyce “Maxine” (Johnson) Whittington passed away on December 22, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was born on March 8, 1926 in Sweetwater, Texas to long time residents Joe Mack Johnson and Laura Hill Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto W. Whittington, her parents Joe and Laura Johnson, and her sister Gladys Johnson Smith.

“Maxine” is survived by her son Johnny Mack Whittington & wife Johnnye Holbert Whittington, sister Lola Johnson Watson, granddaughter Melissa Whittington Campbell & husband David Campbell, grandson Sean Whittington & wife Nacole Whittington, and great-grandchildren Colette Campbell, Jack Campbell, and Alexis Whittington.

She was a member of the Methodist Church. Maxine liked to paint, design clothes, and entertain. She loved and was loved by family and friends.

Graveside Service will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 6412 IH 20, Sweetwater, Texas at 2 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014, Pastor Brian Brownlow of First United Methodist Church officiating.

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May God almighty father of tender mercies and all comfort continue to comfort you all (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4). Please know that God has promised to completely remove death, tears, mourning, outcry and pain (Revelation 21:4). Indeed we all eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of these promise.
