Lionel (Laddie) A. DeRouen, 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He was born in Port Arthur, TX on August 14, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonel and Odile DeRouen and sister Doris Nunez.
He is survived by his wife, Donna K. DeRouen, Missouri City, TX; daughters Marcy Cooper and husband Johnny Cooper of Houston, Sandy Juergens and husband Adrian Juergens of Houston, and son Layne A. DeRouen; Grandsons Brandon, Cody & Joshua Cooper, and Zachary & Nathan Juergens; his brother, Dale DeRouen & his children, Della Faye DeRouen, Annette Kay DeRouen Gilbert Gray (3 children - Jenna Gilbert;
Visitation will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary service at 7:00 PM at St. Alberts Catholic Church, 11027 S. Gessner, Houston, TX 77071. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Alberts Catholic Church followed by Interment to Morton Cemetery in Richmond, TX.

Brown Suffield (3 children - Julia and Jesse Suffield, and Ross Holloway), Jason Nunez and wife Linda (3 children – Ryan, Leah, and Erin Kimmons), Kevin Nunez and wife Sonia (5 children – Micah, Jade, and Ivana Nunez; Lyla and Green), Stephen Nunez and wife Cassie (4 children – Zachary, Lacey, Jessie, and Stephanie Nunez), & Collin Nunez and wife Sara (3 children – Collin, Charles, and Gabriella Nunez); his sister Sharon Ann Flory & her children, Dean A. Flory (1 child - Paige Elizabeth who has a son, Gabriel), Kyle A. Flory (2 sons – Jordan and Jarrod Flory), Chris A. Flory and wife Karen (2 sons – Devin and Kaleb); and his God-Children, Kevin Nunez, Jeremy Liner, James Hebert, & Joshua Cooper. He was also expecting his first great granddaughter due in March 2011.

Marcy and Layne, we were not intimately acquainted with your Dad, but we knew him to be a wonderful person. We are so sorry for your loss and may God give you hope and strength for the future.
Dear Donna, we were so saddened to hear about Laddie. We are hoping to be able to attened the funeral, but have been fighting flu-like symptoms and would hate to expose anyone. In any case our thoughts and prayers are with you. Leon and Rita Jo Duff

Donna, I am saddened to hear about Laddie. He will be greatly missed. I recall those Donna/Laddie dating years and attending your wedding. A fine couple!! One, of the many things, I remember about Laddie was that he was the “King of Trivia”.Every time when I thought I had him stumped – he would come back with something to out-do me!! We were so sorry to hear about Laddie. He was such a fun person to be with and in addition was such a fine person! Please accept our sincere sympathy in this loss for so many.
Regretfully, we will be unable to attend services for Laddie.
We know you have many fond memories of him to help you in this time of sorrow.

Laddie was solid, and he was fun. A good man. I, like Alma, appreciate what Laddie added to my life in the last several years of dancing with him. Always delightful. I will miss the mischievous good time we always had when he was around.
I will always treasure my memories of Laddie. I feel fortunate to have known such a kind and gving soul. Laddie was and will continue to be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He was my line dance teacher and friend. Donna I will forever remember the fun times we all had at the bay as well as many other good times. I just know he is up there line dancing with other friends and family.
