In Memory of
Lynette Jacobson
-

Ellen Lynette Jacobson ran into the arms of Jesus at the age of 88 on January 9, 2021. Lynette was born on August 17, 1932 to Wilma Lee and Vernon Caleb Jacobson of Harlingen, Texas.

At the early age of 3 years old, she contracted the Poliovirus where she suffered paralysis from the waist down. Doctors warned that she would not live a long life yet she went on to graduate from Harlingen High School in 1953 during which she learned to play an upright bass fiddle and later picked up the bass guitar which she played throughout most of her adult life.

Lynette held a few jobs starting with The Kirby Company as a telemarketer, and then went on to be an Avon representative. Her last job, in her later years, she taught kids to read as a Foster Grandparent at Garfield Elementary for 5 years.

In her teenage years, she was a part of the Christ Ambassadors of the Assemblies of God. Later she was actively involved in her church at Christian Temple by being in the choir, an instrumentalist, a member of the Red Hat Society and the senior group called Joy Fellowship. Prior to residing in a nursing home, Lynette attended Freedom Fellowship-Pearland and Harvest Time Church.

Lynette loved playing games, whether it be card games, board games or dominoes, she was always up for anything competitive. Even though she could not walk, she was adventurous and courageous and never considered herself handicapped. Her strong and steadfast faith in the Lord taught her “you can do anything through Christ who strengthens you.”

Preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Wilma Jacobson. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Rev. Wesley Jacobson and Rev. Beverly Jacobson and their children Mark, his wife Margie, Sandra, her husband Jimmy, Melinda, Craig, his wife Robin, and Eric, his wife Millie; and her sister Verna Gay, her husband Ellis Manley and their children LeAnn, her husband Scott, Nicole, her husband Scott, and Stefni, her husband Daniel; and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and friends.
