Mable Driskell Touchstone, 88, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2009 as a result of congestive heart disease. Born in Lovelady, Texas on August 8, 1920, she was the third daughter to Clarence Heflin Driskell and Mattie Brent Driskell. Mabel spent her adult life in Houston, Texas, graduating from Reagan High School in 1938 and from beauty college soon after. She co-owned the East End Beauty Shop for several years before marrying Fred B. Touchstone in 1948. She retired as a
displayer from Home Interiors & Gifts after a 40 year career. She was a founding member of Park Place Assembly of God church, later Southeast Worship Center, and most recently Mable was a member of Braeswood Assembly of God and the Higher Calling Christian Education class. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred, and siblings: Erma Mae, Harmon, Garner and Bryan Driskell, and Mary Driskell Pritchett. Her survivors include brothers, Fred and James Cecil Driskell, daughters, Marsha and Michelle Touchstone, as well as adopted daughter, Charlette Travis, adopted grandchildren, Louwhan Welch and Donald Money and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mrs. Lorraine Fairfax, Director of Sunset Villa Assisted Living, and her wonderful staff for their care of Mable during the last year. There will be a graveside service with visitation at 3:30 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name to the South Texas District Assembly of God’s “Home of Hope – Texas,” P.O. Box 9714, Houston, Texas 77213.
