In Memory of
Mable Driskell Touchstone
-

Mable Driskell Touchstone, 88, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2009 as a result of congestive heart disease. Born in Lovelady, Texas on August 8, 1920, she was the third daughter to Clarence Heflin Driskell and Mattie Brent Driskell. Mabel spent her adult life in Houston, Texas, graduating from Reagan High School in 1938 and from beauty college soon after. She co-owned the East End Beauty Shop for several years before marrying Fred B. Touchstone in 1948. She retired as a displayer from Home Interiors & Gifts after a 40 year career. She was a founding member of Park Place Assembly of God church, later Southeast Worship Center, and most recently Mable was a member of Braeswood Assembly of God and the Higher Calling Christian Education class. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred, and siblings: Erma Mae, Harmon, Garner and Bryan Driskell, and Mary Driskell Pritchett. Her survivors include brothers, Fred and James Cecil Driskell, daughters, Marsha and Michelle Touchstone, as well as adopted daughter, Charlette Travis, adopted grandchildren, Louwhan Welch and Donald Money and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mrs. Lorraine Fairfax, Director of Sunset Villa Assisted Living, and her wonderful staff for their care of Mable during the last year. There will be a graveside service with visitation at 3:30 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name to the South Texas District Assembly of God’s “Home of Hope – Texas,” P.O. Box 9714, Houston, Texas 77213.

Michelle,
Our thoughts are with you. Although I only met Mable a few times, I know she was a wonderful woman.
Nothing can ease the grief but time and happy memories.
With Love,

Mom,
I know you're in heaven with Jesus. The last breath you took on earth was labored and limited by your weakened body. Yet, the next one you took was in heaven, healed, whole and strong. Everyone who dies does not go automatically to heaven. If that were true, why did Jesus die? Heaven holds only those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and believe His words, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)
You were a good Mother, loving and generous to a fault. You were supportive of me all of my life, praying for me, encouraging me and loving me in the up times and the down times. I will miss you tremendously, but memories of you will pop up all the time, reminding me of all the good times and all the laughter.
See you later, Mom! Hug everyone for me, especially Jesus and Daddy.

Ms. Mable,

I have been blessed to know you and spend many fun times with you. I always see your sweet smile when I think of you. It was such fun for you to go to Jasper and get to know Mother. We had a great trip to Galveston. Mother was so fond of you and wished for many more times to get together.

God called you home and I know you are reunited with all those who have gone before. How wonderful to know you are in HIS presence. I will see you again to spend eternity with you. I love you dearly, Brenda

I am so sorry to read about the loss of your dear loved one. During times like this we yearn to see them again. The Bible makes this beautiful promise to all mankind. John 5:28,29 says "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."
