In Memory of
Marie Gedeon
-

Marie Gedeon passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 16, 1930, in Haifa, Palestine, to Elias Nader and Ghatasse (Mundos) Nader.

Marie married Raymond Gedeon in 1948, and together they built a life marked by resilience, faith, and devotion to family. Following the Israeli occupation, they were forced to leave their home and relocate to Beirut, Lebanon. Years later, the Lebanese Civil War again uprooted their family, leading them to Dubai before eventually immigrating to the United States in the late 1970s. After living briefly in Buffalo, New York, and New Orleans, they made Houston their permanent home in 1987.

Marie was a gifted homemaker, exceptional cook, and talented seamstress. Her home was always filled with warmth, hospitality, and abundant meals shared with family and friends. Known for her elegance and grace, she lovingly designed and handmade many of her own outfits. Her culinary talents inspired Marie and Raymond to open Cleopatra, a popular Mediterranean restaurant and nightclub in Houston during the 1990s, known for featuring renowned Middle Eastern entertainers. The couple retired from the business in 1995 due to Raymond’s declining health.

A deeply devoted Christian, Marie’s faith carried her through many hardships, including displacement from her homeland, war, widowhood, and the heartbreaking loss of her son Edward nearly ten years ago. Despite life’s sorrows, she remained strong, compassionate, and steadfast, always finding joy in family gatherings and time spent with loved ones.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Vivian Saliba; her daughter in-law Randa Gedeon; her grandchildren, Dr. George Saliba and wife Maria Hamzo-Saliba, Dr. Mirna Saliba-Dahdal and husband Dr. Nezzar Dahdal, Fadi Saliba, Raymond Gedeon and wife Suha Khoury-Gedeon, Anne Gedeon-Saliba and husband Henry Saliba, and Amanda Gedeon-Belmahdi and husband Fadel Belmahdi; as well as 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Gedeon; her son, Edward Gedeon; her sister Georgette Mundos and her brothers, Tufik, George, Kamal, and Anis Nader.

Marie will be remembered for her strength, unwavering faith, generosity, elegance, and the deep love she shared with her family and all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Our Lady of Cedars Church.
